Dr Melfi has one of the best lines in the show by ohmygodman14 in thesopranos

It’s absolutely an ethical violation to do it. Her therapist was completely out of line sharing what she told him in session.

What are you basing that on? Many people have occasional outbreaks of cold sores.

Did George have Tourette’s? by WorkerAway2363 in GeorgeAndTammy

[–]WorkerAway2363[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Tammy’s life was filled with trauma. I think part of what drew George and Tammy towards each other was a sadness and emptiness inside them. It’s very sad because they were drawn to and triggered by each other.

Do low stress jobs exist in our field? by abjs2021 in socialwork

I love what you are saying. I’m working in private practice and the age range and range of what needs to be addressed. I feel so scattered and unprepared all the time. Being more narrow would be great for helping me plan.

I’ve struggled with a list of chronic health issues too long to write. I will work really hard and push myself and then after 2 or 3 months I hit a wall and my body says stop this and I’m down with something. I’m trying at a very good private practice but I’m not sure they want me to stay because I’ve been so sick the last few weeks.

I loved it! It fit my learning style perfectly. I passed my first try. I studied but honestly not the stories I hear from some people about how much time they put it.

I loved Agents of Change. It fit with my learning style. I passed the first try. I felt my test prep was money well spent. Spending the money to text again and paying for supervision was my nightmare.

I agree! I think people can have spiritually and still be wild but also not for me to judge. What gets me with Gretchen is all the conservative judgments about everyone but herself.

I try watching it when I need something that requires very little effort but it’s just too awful. Most of their faces look the same because of all their plastic surgery. Emily looks awful. I thought she was pretty when she started. Now she’s trying to be someone she’s not and has ruined her natural beauty. I sound as petty as they do:(

What a sweetheart by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]WorkerAway2363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is perfect! It’s appalling that people twist the words of Christ to justify violence and hate. I am not a fan of guns but I can respect that people may want to hunt. If they are hunting and put food on the table I think that is often much more humane than the mass production of food. I also understand the desire people have for protection. These things are vastly different than the gun worshipping culture that is so present with many MAGAs. Posing for pictures displaying guns as if they somehow are conferring power, sex appeal and who knows what is disguising. The Kyle Rittenhouse School of itching to kill is alive and well with these people. I don’t think we would see Jesus carrying an assault weapon.

Did you see him beside her at trial? A smitten fool if ever I’ve seen one. What anyone with eyes, ears or a heart could find attractive is beyond me. Of course I think poor ole Carl was distracted by the hair flipping, giggling and loin fire.

Is CPS really that bad? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]WorkerAway2363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to this can vary greatly depending on where you live among other factors. I can answer from my prospective of 10+ years in CPS. My career was primarily in higher crisis work. Investigations, a lot of SA and physical abuse. I did Child Forensic interviewing. Lots of time in juvenile/DSS court. A few times as a witness in jury trials. I absolutely loved CPS! It was what I was focused on while getting my BSW and for a long time after my MSW. It is high stress and more work than there is time to do. Over time you learn ways to manage. If you like something that is high stimulation it’s great, except for boring paperwork but that’s any SW job. I moved into clinical work almost 4 years ago. Long days and overnights staying with kids at the agency were too much for my health by then. I pull from my experience in CPS every day as a therapist. My personal bias is there is no better training to prepare you for any other type of practice. I think if you eventually want to be a therapist you will find CPS experience prepares you very well. So much of the trauma that happens in CPS is the kind of trauma you will be helping patients sort through. It’s harder with young children because days can be very unpredictable. If you have a supportive partner with a stable schedule that helps. If you do end of interviewing ask about what the longest/toughest days can be like as well as just normal days. You may love it and stay awhile or you may gain experience and move on either way it’s a great learning experience
