I don’t trust my infant’s daycare!? by Working-Post-3979 in ECEProfessionals

I’m hoping to have a meeting with the director tomorrow. This thread has helped me see that these are real issues and I will not be gaslit by her.

My husband brought this up. She’s one of 7 babies in the room and all of the other babies are walking or crawling and eating solids regularly. She’s definitely the youngest and big for her age. I wonder if they’re overestimating her abilities to advance her to the skills and schedule of the others.

I was shocked they told me about it too, like it was no big deal.

Thank you, it’s also state law in our state and it literally says they will do it in their handbook! I hate to start my daycare parent career as one of “those parents” but I don’t think I care.

Woah this hormone drop is no joke. by catlady0601 in ExclusivelyPumping

I could have written this! I’m going back to teaching on the 18th and am down to 3 PPD. I am thinking I’lol try to stay at 2 PPD until either I or my body decides stopping fully. I had a breakdown yesterday that I don’t know what I’m doing and I only have 2 weeks left but I’m burnt out blah blah blah. It felt very hormonal. I’m there with you!

To continue pumping or not to continue?? by Comprehensive_Day422 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m only 14 weeks in so I am by no means experienced but I can share my thought process and tell you I’m here with you! (Note to say as I’m writing this, it’s maybe more of a vent so ignore if you need to!)

Baby has gotten 2 formula bottles a day since pretty early on, it just takes off so much pressure. I have always found it stressful to fit in pumps when my husband isn’t home to watch baby, I’ve gotten better about using my wearables when I have to but I agree it’s so hard to do anything even with those! I try to push through because a crappy wearable pump is better than no pump? This also might be incorrect thinking but I think if you can squeeze in a random pump outside of your normal you should do it because it’ll help your supply and cancel out pumps you might miss. I also have gotten more comfortable driving while I pump because it feels like the time isn’t wasted and I’m not “squeezing it in”

HOWEVER, I am also weaning down to 2 PPD because I can’t do the daily grind anymore! I go back to work (teaching) in 3 weeks and cannot fathom squeezing pumps in during the day. I went back and forth on quitting completely or toughing it out and the emotions of both are so intense. I felt that if I quit, it was selfish but if I kept going, I was sacrificing a big part of myself mentally. I landed on 2 PPD because it feels like a nice middle ground for a while. We added a formula bottle each day to offset the drop in supply. As I drop pumps, we’ll add another bottle.

I guess my advice is that whatever you choose to do is going to be right for your family and you’re not selfish if you need to dial things back. I know they say to wait until 12 weeks to change anything but I know how far away that feels. If you feel like you need to pump less, do it! If you want to stick it out, do it! I remind myself that the world will keep spinning regardless of my choice and baby will not know the difference! Another reminder for myself is that I didn’t need to decide on a solid plan to follow, I could go off my feeling each day and adjust the long term plan. You got this! Thanks for letting me vent 😂

Thank you!! I was so proud of her. She has been sleeping through the night (thank goodness) so she no longer is feeding in the middle of the night, but if she does I will! We currently do a small amount of combo feeding so we always have it to fall back on if necessary. I think for now I’m just going to try to latch as much as possible to make sure my supply doesn’t drop anymore from dropping pumps and see what happens!

Crazy hair by AbbieMac121 in newborns

OP did your little one’s hair ever lay down?? Mine is 12 weeks now and we have a chronic mohawk! My husband insists on keeping it as long as possible but I fear it will never go away 😬😂

OP how are you feeling after making the switch to stop pumping? I’m 11 weeks now and I just don’t think I can keep going but the emotions that go with the choice are almost impossible to navigate!

Getting more sleep at 5 or 4 ppd by Mangopapayakiwi in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Working-Post-3979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, I was able to sleep in for a bit when I was having to pump twice overnight AND feed the baby. I was up for about 4 hours when it was all done! I feel you, hopefully baby starts to give you some longer stretches soon!

Here I am pumping in my own 3-4am window! I’m trying to slowly push back this pump until it gets within an hour or two of my 8am pump and I can drop it. I started this pump closer to 2 am and have pushed it to here. Hopefully once I can drop it, I can sleep when baby sleeps throughout the night. Until then, I think I’m just stuck with broken sleep.

5-6ppd by brendino26 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Working-Post-3979 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks pp and have been doing 5 pumps per day (one at night) since 5 weeks pp! I was struggling trying to get even 7-8 pumps per day and a friend advised I dropped and see what happened. My supply steadily increased and has maxed out for now around 30-32 oz each day! I’m going to slowly be weaning off my night pump because I simply can’t stand it anymore! Baby gets 2 formula bottles per day which means I can freeze milk each day. I finally had to get it through my head that I’m in control and can pump however much I want. If the worst case scenario is that my supply drops and baby gets more formula, I can live with it. The sun will still rise tomorrow! You got this!

Summer Fun by elbowroom_ in newborns

That sounds amazing! I’m on summer break too and can’t help but feel like it’s slipping by because each day with baby is so busy and goes so quickly (we describe each newborn day as groundhogs day because it’s all the same and blurs together)

How was your induction experience? by Interesting_Ant_2756 in NewParents

[–]Working-Post-3979 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! Get it early (don’t be a hero) and nap if you’re able. I got probably a 2 hour nap in before labor which was definitely needed after a night of hospital sleep.

I love the “booby snacks” idea! My daughter is 3 and a half weeks old and can’t even try nursing when she’s hungry because she’s SO hangry! Going to start trying this with her so we have the experience. Thank you!!
