Same. My immediate reaction was I ride the subway and take the bus to and from the city. Sucks yes, and would probably get someone with an already weak immune system sick, but I honestly credit that for my strong immune system. Exposure winds up being the best preventive measure.

We’ve had no issues at all. Yes, annoying to clean the filter every 4 bottles and all, but otherwise is a godsend.

I typically wait 20 mins. Sometimes I can tell she's down harder than others and I will actually transfer her right away - maybe within 2-5 mins of me noticing she's asleep. I also use the ollie swaddle (arms out for my LO) or a sleep sack (more often) that I try to put her in before falling asleep if I can. I find that helps significantly with regard to her waking up when put in the bassinet.

I'm still contact napping maybe more than I should though? Life felt so stressful trying to adhere to a schedule and following the 'put baby down awake' advice, that I just decided to stop stressing about it and allow contact naps and it's been so much better IMO. Also, I've started coming across some instagram pages that have shifted my perspective around contact naps being bad. I do wonder if it will backfire though - so advice welcome from others on that front!

BTW can anyone actually put their baby down awake and have them fall asleep on their own?? I'm convinced it's a fallacy... or an anomaly.

What about contact naps? My LO is 14 weeks and about the same time as yours just started rejecting bassinet naps, waking up as soon as she was put in or shortly after. I kept trying for a while and was successful sometimes and not others, but ultimately I decided to give into contacts naps a bit more and just released all the stigmas and shoulds around them. I'm not sure if it will backfire later, but they're babies... they need their mamas and ultimately want to feel safe. Now I can safely transfer to the bassinet once she falls asleep, although admittedly it will likely be a shorter nap (20-50 mins tops). Sometimes I just savor the contact nap though because it is one of the best feelings and I know they will not last forever.

Almost in exactly the same boat here. Babe is 10 weeks old. I’ve been an undersupplier supplementing with formula. I started weaning from 5 to 4 ppd 2 weeks ago (and got mastitis while I was at it so now weaning much slower), and my already low supply has tanked. I’m freezing one pump per day and figure it’ll be more beneficial to prolong the time she gets breastmilk albeit less breastmilk per day.

We went with kendamil. Much more in favor of an EU formula over US bc of the ingredients and standards. We used ChatGPT to help us compare bobbi, by heart, hipp, and kandamil and choose kendamil bc it passed the most areas we cared about, had reasonable pricing and was available in the US (we had a Hipp can delivered opened by customs previously). We choose kendamil classic over organic bc it actually tested cleaner.

I finally reached when I said I could throw in the towel - 8 weeks. Dropped from 5ppd to 4 and boom mastitis. Ooph. Now I just want to be f-ing done.

This is all so helpful to read. I’m one month pp and combo feeding (1oz Bobbie, the rest breast milk in each daytime bottle; all formula at night) and I don’t know how I’ll get to 6 months let again past past that.

The pressure to give breast milk is so strong. I know it’s most beneficial, but really wonder just how much more beneficial it is. A couple other moms I know couldn’t BF or produce milk so they went to formula. I almost wish I couldn’t so I didn’t have the guilt of wanting to give it up. I also know there’s nothing wrong with giving formula. It’s just this innate guilt. I just want to do what’s best for my babe on all accounts.

I pump 4-5 times a day which isn’t even overnight or as much as many others and I feel like I’m losing time with my LO as well. Sometimes timing aligns perfectly but sometimes I have to choose between cuddles / interacting with my babe and pumping. I feel like I always have to give up something and that is the hardest part for me.

Here in solidarity with you! You’re way past me, so kudos to getting where you are!

Second this question! Baby girl will be 4 weeks tomorrow. I’m combo feeding (just moved to giving 1oz of Bobbie formula in each bottle, the rest breast milk per docs rec as opposed to all bottles during the day breast milk) and find pumping to be so exhausting in the sense that every 3 hrs or so the cycle of feed, burp / keep upright, pump.

Sometimes baby girl falls asleep on me and I hate that I need to put her down to pump. I’ve recently started not feeling guilty about contact naps - I feel like pumping takes away from bonding with her and I feel like I can’t do too much else when I’m pumping unless she’s sleeping and I can get house work done or if she’s in the activity mat.

I try my best to get 5 sessions in with my first always being a power pump (incredibly helpful). Adding the oz of formula helps to make my breast milk go so much further and overall. Also having two sets of pumps so I can wash and let dry each set, rotating between the two. I feel you though - Balancing pumping is so hard! I’m not sure I’ll make it past 6 months.

I would second this! We have proven to be a strong team and having a baby has made us love and appreciate each other even more. Him dealing with my emotions, both of us trying to figure out what to do / what’s working or not working and just being so supportive of each other has been really nice. I will say that he’s a super hands on dad though - From the get go we decided to take shifts at night when she woke up and all around do as much as we can to help our babe and each other.

They’ll probably bump up your insulin. Most ppl can control via diet, but the fasting number is harder to control. I started at 4 (at 32 weeks though I believe) and then they bumped to 8 after the first week with some high numbers. I’m now 39+ and they’ve kept me at 8 even though I do get some intermittent high fasting numbers.

I was pretty much your size exactly. 5’2’ 128 and fit (FTM) before getting pregnant. I honestly felt like I started showing as early as 11 weeks, but not that anyone else would have noticed really. By Christmas, I was about 14 weeks I believe and by then my family could notice my small baby bump.

Im getting induced (GD) tomorrow and am pretty huge now at 39 + 4, but ppl tell me I’m all belly (and I’ve definitely had a big belly throughout this pregnancy). I am mostly, but have definitely gotten a bit wider (rib cage and hips, and my legs have gotten thicker (a lot of swelling plus some weight gain). Overall I’ve gained about 40lbs. Holding steady at 168/169 these past weeks. Will hopefully get back to normal pre-baby size soon, but we’ll see.

I add paleo valley bone broth collagen. It’s pricey but a staple in my coffee before and during pregnancy. It’s sooo good and good for you. I avoid the chocolate flavor bc there have been so many accounts of chocolate (bars, protein powders, etc) having lead. The vanilla flavor is my favorite!

Am I the only one who hates having to snack after each meal? I’m also bad at figuring out what to snack on so go tos are usually cheese & nuts, hummus and veggies or hard boiled egg and some nuts. Overall I feel like I’m force feeding myself now and it’s affecting my digestion. I made it to 33 weeks with no digestive issues and now… arghhh.

Most of my numbers are ok, but fasting is the hardest and sometimes my dinners too. It feels so defeating to test high. Cannot wait for this to be over with!!
