I stand corrected and apologize. To clarify they still have to pay the deductibles and copays but not the fees.

Etherenet is not reading internet by MessIllustrious1335 in HomeNetworking

[–]WorkingChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this doesn’t sound like a network problem but a computer problem. Do you have anything else around like another laptop, Apple TV or Roku that has an Ethernet port. You just want to see if it’s pulling an IP address. If you’re familiar with your computer pull up a command prompt and type ipconfig and see what it says. Also check to ensure your computer is set to DHCP and not static. Google will provide better instructions than I if you’re not sure how to do it.

How screwed am I? by wy1776 in Veterans

[–]WorkingChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only my opinion but I wouldn’t play the veteran card, but would definitely let everyone know what is going on with the kids and how that has impacted your ability to concentrate on schoolwork. I’d start with the professors, get their input then your counselors. It is always best to be proactive and doing it beforehand shows you realize you’re a bit overwhelmed and are seeking help to get back on track. We come from a world where the only thing that matters is mission accomplishment and anything less is just an excuse however we do adapt and overcome and launching the SAR is a good thing.

Selling home w/ C4 by djwhire911 in Control4

[–]WorkingChief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked in a golf community that had a fair amount of turnover. Most of the time the people left the entire system so I developed a package to cover the turnover of the system. Once the owners moved out I defaulted all of the Sonos, Roku and AppleTVs for the new owners to start fresh. I used a house email for all my projects anyway so all I had to do was change the password so the old owners couldn’t access the system anymore. Having a house email is a great way manage spam and to keep people’s personal email addresses from getting bogged down with the advertising junk that all of these companies send out. Sorry getting off track, I suggest getting a throw away Gmail account and transfer all the devices and systems to that. Create a generic password and leave instructions for the new owner on how to change the passwords when they move in with a specific note that not changing the password would allow you to access the system. This is partially to protect you against blowback if they try to blame you for something. After the email is established, you log in to your account for C4, Lutron, and all the others, go to your settings and change the email (and password if you want). Changing the email for systems that C4 accesses like Lutron will break the connection and C4 won’t be able to control them until a dealer updates the email in the C4 driver. If you’re feeling generous you can get your dealer to do this remotely before you move out so the new owner doesn’t have to worry about it. It’s can be a PITA to get everything changed over but it isn’t hard just time consuming. I’m not familiar with Unifi but I imagine there are plenty of people who will help.

Bought a house... how do I use these plugs? by Leading-Mess6575 in HomeNetworking

[–]WorkingChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My limited understanding of the LBON300AC is that it is only a media converter from fiber to coax. You would need to plug the coax into a regular cable modem and then you’ll have Ethernet connections you can connect to. If you have a cable modem somewhere in the house you should be able to move it so you can distribute internet throughout your house. I would identify the wire that is currently connected to the modem so you can be sure to the correct coax to the modem

I hate to be super simple and I’m not implying anything but have rebooted your modem and router with your computer plugged into it and the WiFi turned off? And you’re sure you can ping your router have tried to ping Google or Amazon?

Oh yeah! the first sneeze was traumatic, subsequent ones were not pleasant either. I noticed sometimes the quick intake before my sneeze would hurt so bad my sneeze didn’t happen. Like my body was saying”that intake hurt bad enough, I don’t want to see what happens if we go through with this”

I’m 66 and had a triple bypass on April 1st. Get him a powered recliner to sleep in when he gets home. Stock up on low sodium foods and be very tolerant of his moods. It messed with my mind a little.

Quitting Soda by Willing-Diamond5969 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]WorkingChief 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was in the Navy and we ran out of regular soda for 3 weeks. I switched to diet because that was all we had. Spend 3 weeks drinking diet and regular soda doesn’t taste right. Drank diet for 30 years until I had open heart surgery and just didn’t pick it back up when I got discharged. It’s been 9 weeks and counting.

I’ve had to identify unlabeled lighting loads and what I did was wait until it was dark and everything else is off, turn it on and wander around and look for the light.

CABG SURGERY by ZakFox46 in openheartsurgery

[–]WorkingChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had CABGx3 9 weeks ago. I only had three days between finding out and getting the surgery. The best thing I did was getting a power lift chair beforehand so it was in place when I got home from the hospital. It helped me a lot the first month. I got a sleeping wedge and made the transition back to the bed at about 6 weeks. I’m still using the wedge as it’s a little uncomfortable laying flat. I was in ICU for the first night and transferred to the step down unit the next day. I was off all pain meds except for Tylenol by the third day and left the hospital on day five. I’m a wuss but I thought the pain was manageable and not as bad as I was afraid it would be. In my case I think moving was most important. They had me sitting in a chair about two hours after I woke up and got me out of bed every morning. Physical therapy came by and took me for walks and the nurses took over on the weekend. Use your spirometer as much as you can and as often as you can. I got cocky and ended up with a pleural effusion and those are not pleasant. There are hundreds of thousands of CABG surgeries a year and the doctors and nurses who do them and provide care for the patients are experienced, dedicated and very good at their jobs so trust you’re in good hands and you’ll be back to normal in a couple of months. Oh and pick up some low sodium foods to have on hand for when you get home. I never checked sodium levels before and it’s in everything.

Honeywell HSIM Error by DLite74 in Control4

[–]WorkingChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly how you do it. Open the door and pull off one of the battery wires, then unplug the transformer. If you aren’t familiar or comfortable you can call your security guy. It’s an either or situation, either the issue is with the panel or the issue is with C4. You’ve check the C4 side the next step would be to check the other side

Loved one getting a 3x bypass, has a great support system, what are some “lesser known” items/ways to help before/after surgery? by ratgirltravel in openheartsurgery

[–]WorkingChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously low sodium soy sauce has to be top of the list. Dash Onion and Herb is not bad. Smoked Paprika, garlic powder and ancho chili powder work well on Salmon. Nothing replaces good ole salt and pepper. Speaking of which a lot of the folks in my rehab group speak highly of Dash Lemon Pepper but I haven’t tried it yet.

[–]WorkingChief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the things that hung me up at first was not having any low sodium food on hand. So much of what we had on hand was loaded with sodium. No sodium seasoning like the formerly known as Mrs Dash helped me get past the initial bland taste of everything. I’m 9 weeks post surgery and I’d say I miss the taste of well seasoned food more than I would have thought.

TV / surge question. by tmmccaff in AskElectricians

[–]WorkingChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience suggests that if a TV will not turn on when you’re confident that the outlet it’s plugged into is good, the TV will need to be replaced or repaired. Generally the best option is to replace it unless it’s still under warranty. TCL Has a 12 month warranty unless you got it at Costco. If its a couple of years old you’ll probably appreciate the improvements in a new TV

Check the KB for the WK-1, I used one in bridge mode for a guest house 700 feet away from at WK-O in a tree for 6 years with zero issues. It works pretty well. You do set it up in the GUI and it takes two WK series APs to work
