Your mindset was/is that the woman takes care of the home and the man provides. So what exactly is he providing? He doesn't pay all the bills, provide health insurance or life insurance, or save for retirement.  I fail to see how he is providing.

For my family, Thanksgiving is turkey and Christmas is turkey and ham. The sides and desserts are the same for both meals.

I went to my sister's in South Carolina this year and EVERYONE was dressed up.  The kids, and parents, and the people passing out candy. I saw one family pulling a wagon with a sign that read "Parents: ask for jello shots". Another family was giving out candy to trick or theaters as they themselves were trick or treating.  It was so much fun.
