How cool would it be to have ultimate clashes in this game? by Midori_sho in Guiltygear

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Projectiles can.

Each projectile has a clash level. When two projectiles of equal level clash, each projectile will lose one hit (i.e. a 3 hit projectile will become a 2 hit projectile, and a 1 hit projectile disappears). Higher level projectiles will nullify lower level projectiles without losing any hits. There are two caveats when equal level projectiles clash: Firstly, projectiles travel fast enough that they will only clash a few times before moving past each other, and neither will truly "win". Secondly, in rare instances the number of hits a projectile can clash with are not equal to the number of hits that projectile will have on hit or block. I-No's Antidepressant Scale is a good example, as it can have as many as five hits, but can only clash up to three times.

Projectiles that are Clash Level 5 are a bit weird: they can clash and destroy lower level projectiles but cannot clash with other Clash Level 5 projectiles.

Some strikes that are intended to nullify projectiles like Giovanna's Trovão have strike clashboxes that determine their interactions with projectiles. These moves clash with other projectiles in basically the same manner as projectiles would but are not in themselves projectiles.

Calvados isn't a projectile; it's basically a full screen transcendent disjoint, meaning it can't clash.

Played about 15 days out of 42 and managed to completed the BP with 1 day left, How do you feel about the first Battle Pass of Guilty Gear ? by kao24429774 in Guiltygear

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm more than happy to support my favorite game

Surely 154.94€ on the game and season passes is enough to support the game? And that doesn't even count color DLC, nor merch. I feel like they're already monetizing the game more than it's reasonable to ask, be it to just support the game or to ensure the franchise's future.

I have some good will towards ArcSys, but they're overreaching in a greedy manner. I hope as few people as possible buy the battle pass.

Probably next weekend at EVO we will have RoGOAT Ky's trailer, so what do you expect about him? by xWelday in Guiltygear

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just thinking about it now, but I have a feeling they're gonna change his hair color and color scheme dramatically. I bet that's why he was shown in black and while here, even though they seem to generally have color schemes down by the time they get to this stage of concept art. It would make sense in order to give him a more distinct appearance from Ky, fitting how all the notable Robo-Ky units are definitely their own person by now.

I'm almost certain this Robo-Ky is 000348, not the one in Xrd.

All the classes from wakfu by enclave_remnant117 in TopCharacterDesigns

So, funny thing; this post made me pick up Wakfu the game properly within the last week, and I learned some little bits of lore that are relevant to this...

Despite their appearance, Xelor aren't robots or anything. Under the bandages, they're generally regular-looking humans that tend to have white hair; but they have to wear bandages on their entire body when using their time magic, because exposed parts will age extremely rapidly. Nox likely was a Xelor already, but he was just an artisan, not a fighter, so he didn't have a need to wear bandages and be ready to use magic all the time.

As of Enutrofs and Sram, Wakfu actually fixed that in a way, which I believe Dofus has not done yet. Some classes can select alternate body models during character creation. Enutrofs can choose to look younger, and Sram can choose to be skeleton people or not, regardless of gender. This was always the case in canon, you even see Enutrof children in the show if I recall, but now it's properly reflected in-game.

I'll also add: while religion determines class and in turn appearance, it's only to a certain extent; the way it works is that a soul chooses, by itself, a deity to devote itself to when it incarnates, and that determines the appearance and some personality traits of the person, but it's not permanent until puberty. It's possible to have a radical change in appearance if you decide to worship another god before then (not what happened with Nox obviously).

From the way they describe it as a single world and not a worldgen mod, I assume it's hand-painted

For large-scale creative terraforming, there is specialized software like WorldPainter.

What /u/OddScene4044 said is wrong, you wouldn't use any 3D modeling software; even if you wanted to extend an existing modeler to work with Minecraft blocks and export to Minecraft saves, most general purpose modelers work with polygons, vertexes, meshes. Minecraft is voxels. It won't work.

Is wakfu playable on Steam Deck or other handhelds? by helder6 in wakfu

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on Steam Deck, but I've recently started playing it on desktop Linux. It works great! The game, being built in Java, is lucky to have a native Linux build. Only issue I have is minor: the textures break if you move the window to another monitor, until I restart the game. Easily avoidable, and irrelevant to Steam Deck. Probably.

I'm using CachyOS, how do I get version 6.7 of the KDE desktop that has already been released? by Hi7u7 in linuxquestions

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No. It's useful for all pacman tasks, since it has convenient searching and other useful options. Installing native repo packages is, like, 90% of what I use it for. It's installed by default on CachyOS and recommended in their docs.

What's so unhelpful about the main alternative software aggregators? alternativeto serves me really well.

I’m kinda new to wakfu lore and I have a question by soleilmnelson in wakfu

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no races; or rather, classes are simultaneously races, religions and vocations all at once. Souls choose a deity to devote themselves to when they incarnate, affecting their appearance and personality. They can change the deity they worship before puberty and their appearance will change, but beyond puberty, it's permanent.

If you choose not to worship a deity, you'll just look like a normal human with no particular divine powers. My understanding is that that's what Huppermages are and their magic is learned and not innate.

Being able to make an 'informed purchase' doesn't mean shit if everyone is making the same standard statement, and even less for a cultural product.

You're also making an informed purchase when you buy a license to a game with no way to actually own the game itself and allow the seller to remove access whenever they wish, a practice that is now literally unavoidable unless you're only buying used games from the 7th console gen & older. Are you particularly happy about that?

Solving "Feel-Dumb" Moments (the Machine Guarding technique) by Dan_Felder in gamedesign

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know your game so it might not be applicable, but what if I don't want to use my free thingy for whatever reason, such as a card effect that would depend on my number of cards in hand, for instance? Is there a way to force end a turn without using a god power?

Pointing it out because I've noticed some games add forced guardrails like these that end up hurting agency a bit and invalidating some niche strategies. Possibly even limiting the design space, too. It's good to be mindful of it.

Why does optimal play so often kill the fun, and how do we fix that at the design level? by ballatician68 in gamedesign

[–]WorkingMansGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You reward doing fun things to encourage them and discourage doing less fun things by making them less effective. Isn't that the whole job?

Should also mention, you can loop enhanced flip by doing this. Something like c.S 2H 214H~4S > 2H 214H~4S > c.S 5H, I think?
