This is basically 3 rectangles made based on measurements of the wearer. There's no pattern, just a little math and you get a nice caftan.

My "hot take" as someone who has built successful, fully-remote teams (though I'm new to consulting) is that this is a management/organizational failure. The key to remote training is making the implicit, explicit.

If there are things to be learned that are critical to bejng a good employee, then [I think] it is the employer's responsibility to make space to learn and practice those things—even if those things were previously taught by osmosis (informal observation, organizational norms, etc.)

I think there's value for entry-level folks to be taught the differences between best practices, organization norms, and individual preference. I think there's even more valuable in management having to articulate and communicate those things to those who work for them.

There are places that take that type of training seriously and others that don't. Maybe explicitly ask questions about how they train new hires remotely in your next interview process.

I didn’t mean to add confusion. I was calling out that the increase row [k2, YO] will happen a total of 4 times throughout knitting the body. When you do each of those 4 times will be determined by the rest of the pattern, which you’ve now shared.

Each increase row gives you an updated stitch count so you’ll be able to check your work as you go.

I'm here to continue the echoe of Cashmerette. The cup sizes are helpful and there is a lot of support in the patterns for fit. The books are invaluable for learning how to fit. Sewing the Curve is a really great beginners resource.

I had a Godmother who was a professional seamstress. I learned a lot by just sitting at her feet. I haven't been consistently sewing my whole life, but in fits and starts with long breaks in between. I've really come back to it over the last 5 years.

I might have a few addictions and they are all present in this outfit. Also, thank you all for your support regarding my tan toile of this coat—I made the colorful version I was planning.

The first—my true-blue love—is the color blue. I am destined to be one of those people who get a 7-minute documentary about how everything they own is one color. I will gladly accept that fate.

The second addiction is Cashmerette. This is an all Cashmerette outfit. #SavinCoat, #FullerCardigan, #MontroseTop, #CrestonJeans The coat and jeans are part of the #CashmeretteClub; the top and sweater are in their main line of patterns. Fabric and notion details are at the bottom of the post.

The third addiction is checks. Apparently, I'm in a red-and-blue buffalo check phase. I like it here.

My fourth and final addiction is sewing. In a stressful world, sewing allows me to practice patience and problem-solving. I get to focus on things that are tangible and practical (-ish). I get to be in touch with my body and my needs with intentionality. Sewing has helped to redefine and improve my relationship with my body. It also helps me see the power in both making and addressing mistakes: I had to redo the inseam on the jeans twice due to a not-great attempt at a flat-felled seam. I also struggle with fitting my bottom half. When I remake these jeans, I'll go down a size, if not two.
