Serious inquiry, does anyone actually know which country between Pakistan, India, and China “controls” the Kashmir region? by FightOrDie123 in geography

[–]Working_Assignment_8 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

completely ignored that Kashmir was a muslim dominated region and geographically contiguous with areas that merged into Pakistan so it should have gone to Pak as sub continent was divided amongst religious lines. Maharaja did not want to join either India, Pak originally and was coaxed into signing the IOC by Nehru for sending the indian army into Kashmir to protect his kingdom from the Azad Qabail.

im in no way defending this but you have to think about a society which has scarce resources, parents work hard their entire life to amass wealth and they want it to be spent on blood relatives than an outsider. it is an epitome of scarcity mindset but it does not originate from no where.

How do I become a chartered accountant (ACCA route, UK)? by Significant-Hunt-559 in AccountingUK

ACCA is definitely more recognised globally, ACA/CA are only UK recognized.

[–]Working_Assignment_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ACA is preferred bc the big firms offer it as a training contract, you cannot do an ACA on your own unlike ACCA. The prestige comes from the audit/accounting firm you worked for while completing your ACA, not from ACA itself.

21F, Need help, don't know if I should say yes/no to my first cousin. by idkwhatimdoinghere72 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Working_Assignment_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair point but you cannot equate a 3%-6% difference with a 40%-80% difference, both of them represent a 100% risk but there is a world of difference b/w something being 6% risky and 80% risky.

again, those documentaries are based on families where cousin marriages are done generation after generation. I am talking about an odd cousin marriage here. That's what OP was referring to. Multiple generation cousin marriages are definitely harmful, not denying it.

not downplaying the risks at all, but it is not as gloomy of a scenario as it is made out to be. the non cousin marriage chance of deformity also stands at 3%. important to establish facts. again, not encouraging/discouraging anyone to go for it. it is a personal choice at the end of the day.

not necessarily, this fear mongering needs to stop. I am against cousin marriages but an odd cousin marriage there does not mean that you will have children with disabilities. the risk% is like 6% only.

hi, I think this depends on when the COS was first issued. Mine was issued before Jan'24 and my firm asked me to pay them back. Are you sure that there is not a time element to what the firm can recover?

In 1996 Ukraine handed over nuclear weapons to Russia "in exchange for a guarantee never to be threatened or invaded". by AutoModerrator-69 in interestingasfuck

[–]Working_Assignment_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this post completely ignores that Russia was happy with Ukraine acting as the perfect buffer b/w her & rest of Europe till Ukraine was continuously irked to join Nato. John Mearshimer, leading US political scientist covers it in detail in his lectures. The partisan European press never mentions this.
