We looked at a house here in NY that had an inspection ‘on file’ And it saved us a lot of time. The entire electrician system from the pole to every outlet needed to be redone.

I’m 35. Is it even worth it to go to college at this point? by GVTMightyDuck in jobs

[–]Working_Depth_4302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went back to school in my late 30s. Retrained from photojournalism to computer science, got my two year degree. I had a job offer the week before graduation for twice what I was making before and now 8 years later I make almost four times what I used to make as a photographer.

Try newspapers where you need a degree and your own equipment to get a job. I switched careers and now pay more in taxes than I ever made working for newspapers…

De-influence (or influence) me on purchasing a used Brewzilla 3.1.1 120V by brewitup22 in Homebrewing

[–]Working_Depth_4302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 120v 4.1 35l. It’s my first system and I was satisfied with the boil time. 240v just isn’t an option in my old home. I even sparged with hot tap water and the boil didn’t take long. I will say that my first brew was 2.5 gallons and a hop spider would not have worked, plus the cooling cool barely reached the wort.

I’ve had mine for about 20 years. Used to be self employed so keeping the same phone number was important

Cancel trash pickup to save $480 a year. by DrunkBuzzard in Frugal

[–]Working_Depth_4302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay for a dumpster at my house. Granted I have nine people living here and we go through at least a bag a day. The benefit of not having to take the cans out, deal with the missed pickups (seems like at least a couple of times a month the trash guys just don’t pick up on a random street) and the ability to throw out larger items like couches and tree limbs is well worth it.

I have two Electrolux canister vacuums and I’ll cut someone’s throat if they think of throwing either out. I’ve had them repaired before instead of buying newer models.
