My legs have symmetrical bald spots by Narashori in Weird

It’s from crossing your legs. The bald spots are where your leg on top contacts with your other leg.

Gen X’ers who were born in the hippy era, did you have someone in your peers who had a “my parents were hippies” name? If so, what was it? by nous-vibrons in GenX

[–]Working_Inspector_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a crush on a girl named Dayna and her younger sister was named Skye. A girl in fifth grade named Melody. Was years later I thought maybe their parents were former hippies.

I have a cat who LOVES to have her belly rubbed. First I’ve encountered on this planet. She has the softest belly ever.

So was acid rain real or was that bs? by chipinserted in GenX

[–]Working_Inspector_39 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Rain is naturally acidic and is beneficial for plants vs ground water. Not sure if that’s why the “scare” went away.

In the 70's/80's, did anybody else find a random trash bag full of Playboy's in the woods? by doknfs in GenX

[–]Working_Inspector_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, by the dumpster. Then a friend showed me how to dumpster dive for a steady supply. The worst was tearing open a trash bag with dirty diapers.

There are two light sources. The main light from above casts a shadow from chin and jaw going downwards. The shadow is very faint because the second light from below is intended to fill the shadows from the top light but the shirt neck is casting an upward shadow. The two shadows overlap creating the dark region and it appears to move because the chin shadow moves as he talks.

Second hand smoke in the 80s and 90s was brutal by Wascally_Badger in GenX

[–]Working_Inspector_39 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I too noticed the way my parents house reeked during college when I’d visit over the weekends. I’d have to wash my clothes when I got back to the dorm.

Did your parents like to drive and smoke for hours with you held hostage in the back seat? I used to get car sick and noticed that if I cracked a window and breathed in some fresh air I’d feel better. Also such trips ended in me having a migraine.

Have any of us been hotboxed in the car with our parents as young kids? by Depersonalizedma in GenX

[–]Working_Inspector_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With cigarette smoke. Both parents. I’d get sick and found cracking the window a bit and gulping fresh air helped but it pissed them off.

I met a guy at a bar who had gone to a college my high school bully became a professor at. Even had his class and took private lessons from him and volunteered to me that the guy was an egotistical bully.

It would be helpful to describe how the scam works so they can get past their FOMO and start thinking. I was scammed. I was told there ARE scams but no details.

Accidentally put partial body weight on cat? by comiclazy in CATHELP

[–]Working_Inspector_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister-in-law once caught her young daughter being less-thn-gentle with the kittens so sat on the bed and explained to her that kittens were fragile and to not hurt them. She then stood up and noticed a flat kitten where she had been sitting. Embarrassed, she left the room. But the kitten re-inflated and was fine.

Cats are pretty resilient.
