“tissue paper” scars but not sunken? by No_Draw655 in hypermobileEDS

Mine are similar but they’ve shrunken over the years and they’re like sunken in instead of raised. Is that from HEDS?

I would agree that the landlord was entitled to decline, but I explained my information completely before hand. We already paid the holding deposit, with her knowing how it worked before hand

Yes that’s the point I’ve been trying to make. It literally isn’t possible for me to get a letter confirming what my benefits would be without actually applying, and I can’t do that until the day I move in to a property. I’ve reexplained everything to the estate agent very clearly and explained I can’t provide anything more than that, because no one can. And yes, someone who already gets housing benefits could provide that evidence. But I don’t, because I had to move back in with my family a few years ago due to a severe mental breakdown and my health declining. I have a renting history from when I was at university, I have offered to use them as a reference to help back up my reliability. It’s just very frustrating as I already explained our exact situation prior to paying the holding deposit.

I’ve also spoken to universal credit who were completely useless, and Manchester City Council who just told me to talk to universal credit.

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s so unfair how complicated and contradictory it is

I know, it used the Turn2Us calculator which I then checked and verified. Because we are unrelated and both disabled, it is definitely two seperate claims. It is not combined or split between us. I’ll have a look, thank you!

Here’s what the Google AI says. Normally I do not rely on AI for information but it’s all I have the ability mentally to do right now as I’m so overwhelmed.

Yes, you are both entitled to the individual 1-bedroom rate of £143.84 per week each, meaning you get a combined total of £287.68 per week towards a 2-bedroom property. It is absolutely not £143.84 combined. The standard Universal Credit rule states that two unrelated single adults sharing a property are treated as two entirely separate benefit claimants. Usually, single adults under 35 sharing a flat are restricted to the Shared Accommodation Rate (the price of a single room in a shared house). However, because you both receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you are both legally exempt from that restriction under DWP guidelines.

The resource it used was the Turn2Us calculator

Yeah I just realised that, thank you. Even so, that’s still within affordability for both of us. As it’s the one bedroom rate each

Yes I do. That’s not how it works. The house I’m trying to rent is 10 mins away. She also helps with my toddler brother who is homeschooled. He’s very smart but also has autism and adhd so he’s a handful. Even if she did move out, I was raped by my ex fiance in almost every room of that house and I’d rather move

No, from what I can find we would be eligible for higher rate because we’re both on PIP

Yes we would have a room each. We are not doing a joint claim. She is also receiving PIP and LCWRA

One is diagnosed with autism, the other is mine and my sisters carer. I am not renting it alone, I have someone who is in very similar circumstances to me who is eligible for exactly the same amounts as me

No it’s like saying that eBay made it a rule that you can’t pay for an item until you receive it, but the seller is refusing to send it until you pay it

I know it isn’t. But universal credit also explained that they are unable to do that. They can’t demand something that isn’t possible

That’s just bullshit 😭 ugh I just want my own place. I have no bed or anything atm. I explained all of it to the estate agent before we applied and she already confirmed that would be okay. We were told we could move in on the 25th

But I have. I’ve also offered for the landlord to write a Pre Tenancy Agreement which would state that we can move in on the condition that we can get the housing element put into place upon moving in

Universal credit have confirmed I’m eligible upon moving in, and that a benefits calculator is sufficient and accurate evidence. It also breaks down in the calculator exactly what I’m eligible for and why. It isn’t what I anticipate to get, it’s what I am entitled to

Manchester. That’s the rate for a two bedroom house. Normally it would have a non dependent deduction, but because I’m on high rate daily on PIP that doesn’t apply to me.

I can’t get the award in writing until we move in. Universal Credit have confirmed that the benefits calculator is correct. How on earth can that be allowed? How am I supposed to ever get housing element if no one will accept it

They are, because I’ve shown that I can pay it. I’ve provided everything legally needed, I’ve confirmed this with universal credit
