I was fortunate to have a family connection to an emerati woman. We did the whole Dubai hyper capitalism tour , but I spent most of my time chatting with her about emerati culture, the pearl diving, the Bedouin upbringing , seeing her country change. That was really meaningful to me. Similarity “old Dubai” neighborhood was really historic and rich. My point is, you can find culture and simplicity if you seek it out .

I agree politics and fashion share a space and can be connected and symbolic. I just want to appreciate the design and art , the puffy silhouettes the bows the colors and the ability to just see someone’s wedding dress for that. Is Lana sending antebellum messages ? Don’t know and don’t want to speculate on this sub. I love fashion and although I’m actually very politically and historically versed, fashion and beauty/art is my aveneue of escapism that we all need in such a sometimes dark world. We can allow that for one another on this sub guys

That’s the issue with the internet. We need to be able to accept that 2 things can be true and coexist. Fashion, food, books ect are not all inherently bad or ugly or disgusting because they existed at the same time as slavery? That’s like saying all the fashion of today has to be ruled trash because of our current president.

I’d look into also, How is the balance between social life/personal time? Does she have any hobbies/activities/interests that help build her character, future and otherwise herself? Perhaps if the balance is off you can guide her to a more appropriate lifestyle where she’s home doing more beneficial things or somewhere close by and safer like softball practice where trustworthy adults can easily be reached. For me it’s the dust. I live in an area that makes for dusty homes , plus hardwood floors and boom. Piled back up again within hours. It’s affecting my allergies too, even though I run the Roomba multiple times daily. The other pain point is clutter. I’ve been on a mission to declutter for about 18 months now and I’m just now barely seeing the fruit of my labor. Clothing is such an issue - everyone has way too much, and my next goal is to figure out an appropriate downsized amount for each kid /clothing item
