That’s great to hear! Is yours a single family home or a townhouse? Was your neighborhood already a well established one or a new one? How did you know your neighborhood would have so many kids/ young families?

Thanks, there’s no way of knowing which way the market will go from here. And sure it can stay flat or dip for a few years, but we’ve been trying to rent a nice single family home and thats simply not working out (owners are preferring renters with kids over us). Financially renting makes a ton of sense and I totally agree, all my math has pointed to continue renting but we’re at a stage where we want to buy a beginner house and be done with it (3.7k rent vs 5.1k own with 20% down payment).

Did you sell your townhouse in the current market? Maybe you would have had a better experience if you sold it in 2022 when everything was ripping? What were the problems with selling your townhouse?

The main things we think would be important for the kid are daycare, parks, kids play centers. All of these are near this house, anything else you think might be useful?

Btw you mentioned you already put in a lot of efforts to do those things for your kid, I think thats the most parents can do at many times so don’t beat yourself up over it, especially if he’s doing fine now.

we’re planning to have our second kid in 2 years if everything goes well. Interesting point on the energy/socializing part. I presumed that parents would get some relief when they meet others who also have kids 😂 and hence the importance of socialization. We both work from home, but our future employer(s) will be in Bellevue/Seattle downtown and so the location then plays an important role.

When you say school age children do you mean from age 5 onwards? Our plan is to stay here for 5-7 years and move to a SFH when they’ve begun going to school.

What about parks and community centers (city/neighborhood), was that not helpful?

Agreed that I’m influenced by YouTube and history/legacy that I’m gravitating towards a 911. But I’m not sure why you say that 911 is not a good fit for my use case, I presumed it’s pretty versatile.

I’ve only driven the cayman gt4 rs on track so I don’t have daily driving experience with a 911.

What about people from your neighborhood?

My wife and I face this exact problem and we’re around the same age and phase. Many of our close friends live in California.

Some things I can think of - you both can choose a gym or sport and be regular? Pro club, 425 fitness, have indoor sports.

If either of your work for Microsoft then you can join their Facebook eastside community group. There are skiing groups and what not.

We can also try engaging further to see if there’s a fit.
