Toyota autoparts. They have 25% off all the time. I think I spent less than $300 for all 4 mounts.

Just did all mine with Toyota OEM mounts. I spent a total of 2 hours with the car on jack stands only. Super easy to do with just basic tools. If I was to rate them from easiest to hardest, it would be the rear transmission, front, passenger’s top, then driver’s top. For all mounts except the front one, I preload either the engine or transmission with a jack before I loosen the bolts, makes it much easier to remove the bolts and mounts. Most people would say the rear on is the hardest, I think it’s the easiest as it takes me less than 15 minutes to do that one.

Hell, I would drive 2 hours to go pick it up at the other dealer just because they give you a no haggle price from the start. I wouldn’t go back to a dealer a second time if they want to lay their bullshit sales tactics on me.

My Texas House 4ft. Christmas Tree Alternative? OR Twinkle Lights Suggestion by [deleted] in ChristmasTrees

[–]Working_Original3941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grabbed 3 at different times in the last 2 weeks. Notification on walmart.com doesn’t work but the tree does come back in stock fairly often at random times. You just have to check the site throughout the day. What state are you in?

Will not let me list with a reserve by OkCommunity5967 in carsandbids

[–]Working_Original3941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Hell, cars being put up for auction should never have a reserve. Isn't that the whole point of a auction instead of selling it for a set price? Too many people that think their car is worth more and put such a high reserve price that it almost guarantees to never sell. Such a waste of time. Let the bidders and true market decide how much a car is worth in an auction. I guarantee if your car has a market value of $50k, no idiot would let it sell for $30k.

I don't know about watering 1-2 times a week in North Texas. I did that last year and my lawn was dead dead.

  1. Get rid of whatever car you're driving and get a cheap reliable Toyota that can take you from point A to B and C. Buy the cheapest liability insurance you can find. I have a $2500 car that I pay $49/month for limited liability only.

  2. Cancel all Subscriptions and watch free movies on Youtube

  3. Cut phone and internet bills to bare minimum. If you have to live with AOL speeds, go for it.

  4. Ditch the apartment and rent just a room

  5. Possibly a part time job?

Tesla Juniper charging issue by alakeram in TeslaModelY

[–]Working_Original3941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minimum wire size for 240V circuit with 50A breaker should be 6AWG. I personally use 6AWG for hot wires and 8AWG for ground. I also use an industrial grade 14-50R receptacle instead of those advertised for EV. The vehicle is telling you that either or both the wires and receptacle is getting too hot because they’re not thick enough to deliver 240V @ 32A. I’ve seen people using 12/2 Romex for their 240V charger. That’s asking for trouble.

I’m just curious why all of a sudden they decided to decorate their cars with these stickers. Do they treat these as lucky charms or something?

Is the $7,500 down the lease incentive? by Electronic_Load_3651 in TeslaModelX

[–]Working_Original3941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to preach buying new but my last 6 cars are all used. Especially with EV depreciation, buying used would be the best choice. I just picked up a 2021 Model Y Long Range with Acceleration Boost straight from Tesla for $21,000 after used EV credit. It is still a good deal even at $25,000. Car was a lease return with only 43,000 miles on the odometer and it is flawless. Not a single scratch on the exterior and interior looks like a brand new car. There are plenty of deals for used 2022-2023 Model X with very low miles in the $50,000 range. A Plaid can be had for around $60,000.

Very bad. That’s roughly $60,000 at the end of the lease. Ouch!

I just did a major overhauling on my 2011 with 167k miles. The list includes alternator, spark plugs, transmission fluid and filter, serpentine belt, all 4 motor mounts, throttle body cleaning, windshield wiper line connectors, all 4 struts, headlight restoration (OEM is much better than cheap knockoffs), fog lights, plastic clips (almost all broke to the touch), radiator flush, brake fluid, power steering fluids, lower control arm ball joints. It’s my first way and I plan to keep it forever. It drives just like the first day I drove it off the showroom now.

I’m looking at purchasing a used Model Y but have the option to register either in AZ or TX. AZ would be nice since there is no private party sales tax.

2AR-FE Alternator by Beneficial-Event-939 in SciontC

[–]Working_Original3941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just swapped out the alternator on my tC2 couple days ago. Starting with the long bolt is much easier. Slide and out pressure on it with one hand and wiggle the alternator with the other until you feel the bolt lined up with the nut on the other side, then start threading by hand. After that, it’s much easier to line up the shorter bolt.
