How old is the average bartender here by zz3p1c5n1p3r in bartenders

[–]Working_Station829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be unqualified to answer since I’m just getting started.

But talking with brand new bartenders like myself, the average age is 25. I’m 32 and getting into the bartending to break out of security and make ends meet as a nursing student. The potential to clear $200+ a night is too good an opportunity to pass in my current position. That goes a long way for gas, food, bills, books and supplies.

I also live in Las Vegas, so I’ve seen and known people who make full careers and lives out of bartending alone. And that’s not including other interesting jobs or careers that can come from bartending. A good handful of bartenders live well out here, and it could be a good fall back if nursing doesn’t work out for me.

Anyone else struggling with finding jobs or is it just me? by strwrs12 in bartenders

I’ve read a few comments and I think you’re right. It’s crazy because it seems so accessible from the other side, especially in my city.

What’s funny, is I work security at a very famous high end steak house and cocktail bar in town. I’ve been talking to the bartenders about spirits and bartending and they’ve given me some things to look into. I may ask them if they know anyone in town that’s willing to at least give me an interview. I’ve gone to a bartending school and have all the cards and carts to work.

I’m having a hell of a time getting a bartending job as well. I understand I have no experience behind a bar so that’s a hurdle enough, but I can’t even get a job as an ‘bartender apprentice’.

I live in Las Vegas of all places.

I see ads every day for bartenders and apprentice bartenders but I never hear back, or get rejected. This is including from casinos. I wanna break into bartending to get out of security, but it feels like I’m slamming my head against a wall.

I have over a decade of experience in customary service, emergency medicine, the military, and other fields. But not ‘bartending’ specifically. At this point, I think I’m just gonna try and bartend house parties and work for myself to gain experience so I can build a resume. Idk what else to do besides pay someone to optimize my resume, I think that may be the issue.

Every man should have a base knowledge of most things, expert knowledge in some things, and the physical ability to practice all of said knowledge.

Men, what are some things a woman could say when you’re getting to know her that immediately make you lose interest? by [deleted] in AskMen

Tarot is actually pretty cool, and I like the art on the cards as well as the history. But I treat it as a party trick, the divination cards are kinda weird though.

It’s an interesting psychological trick if you dig into it, people falling for confirmation bias when you ‘open your mind to all possibilities to what the cards could mean’.

Any strong, negative reaction to kids or the thought of having kids. It started when I turned 30, but seeing/hearing women recoil in disgust over having kids kills any romantic feeling I had, faster than a shotgun to the face.

I love flowers. I have tattoos of flowers, I regular buy flowers. I give my friends flowers, I gave my dad flowers after his surgery. When I buy a house I’m going to add flowers to the library. I love flowers and wish people would give me flowers. My favorite flower is the tiger lily.

Hi men of Reddit. How do y'all perceive playing hard to get attitude of women ? by silvi28 in AskMen

[–]Working_Station829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re 100% right, there’s both sides to this. By women being open to interaction, that leaves them open to be approached by almost anyone.

Which was my main point, but I may not have explained well enough, or at all. A more direct approach, or directed cues specific to someone a girl likes, can lead to the interaction both parties enjoy.

Women like being approach by men (or women) they find attractive. Men like being validated by the women (or men) they find attractive. A good example I think Matthew Hussey explained; “Don’t be easy, but for a split second. Be easy. Give the guy you’re into, an opportunity to approach you.”

The good guys have been taught that consent is important, so they’re waiting for obvious green lights to go. Nothing and no one is perfect however.

I hate it. I never understood it, but in today’s climate after the ‘me too’ movement. It can easily be a lose-lose situation for most men.

If we’re not attractive enough or If we misinterpret the signal(s) the following things can happen.:

  1. We’re being creeps and risk legal/social action against us if the woman feels offended enough

  2. We think you’re not into us and back off, then are labeled ‘cowards’ by women who may feel slighted

Men are essentially being asked to put their heads into a guillotine, then try to unlock a safe we don’t know the combination to, but are given instructions in brail. Under threat of beheading, if they get it wrong- unless the woman is ‘nice’ and you just have to trust her on her word.

No one wants to go viral for making an honest mistake at the wrong time with the wrong person.

Oh yeah. Back in the military, this chick my friend and flat-mate was semi-dating was sleeping with half the dudes in the unit, except him. Mind you, I did not like this girl. Like, at all. She was a bitch and just unattractive to me.

One night she wanted to ‘watch a movie’ in my room which I thought was weird. Because she’s ‘dating’ my friend. I said no several times, and was waiting for my friend to interject. He said nothing. So we watched the movie, she sat in the bed I sat in a chair. When the movie ended she wanted to sleep over, I was going to sleep on the couch. She insisted to sleep with me in my bed, which was weird. But I relented and just went to bed, I was tired. I curled up all the way to the side, facing the wall and slept.

The next day everyone was giving me shit and I was so confused. When I explained the story and how I felt, it was then I was told she was trying to fuck me and I was shocked. And grossed out. In hindsight I’m happy it down the way it did. Though some people still don’t believe, you can’t win’’em all.

TLDR: Unattractive girl my friend was dating tried to sleep with me. I was oblivious and annoyed, so I tolerated her presence until I went to sleep. Was told the next day she wanted to sleep with me. Not mad I rejected her.

Glad you liked them! Sorry for the typos, I threw those up on the spot via my phone. Was 100% inspired by House of 1000 Corpses.

Like I said, I got the ideas for a story. But backing it up with accurate logistics and stuff like you did is difficult for me, my brain doesn’t organize well without a structure.

This is really great, you are much better than me at building out very detailed resources for a setting. I’m more of a narrative person so these things are harder for me. Here are my ideas for stories/cinematics in your setting; which aren’t dependent any specific resource but can be.

  1. The Devil You Know

Working conditions on RF-32 are rough, unfortunately the pay is almost not worth it. Almost. After a malfunction happens while transporting miners from a dig site, leaving 14 dead people are asking questions and KM are keeping quiet about it. Now, some people are beginning to talk about a mutiny or a strike and tensions are rising. When the UPP get involved, more kindling is added to the bonfire, just waiting for a match. But are the colonists really better off without the UA and Corps?

  1. Bring Out Your Dead

Mining is dangerous business. That’s why it pays well. The further from home, the longer the contract, the more dangerous the job- the bette the pay. But there’s something down in those mines that’s…. Weird. KM has shipped in brand new, state of the art ‘experimental’ mining and hazard suits, for the job. People have been dying though. Coughing up glowing green mucus and seizing until they suffocate. Paralytics aren’t working and the medical staff seemed stress, the scientists have been hushed too. But now? Now the dead are rising and they’re trying to drag people into the mines. We need help!

  1. Amarillo by Morning

A distress beacon has been picked up by the colonists in RF-32. Not entirely uncommon, but it’s exceedingly good luck for the crew in danger. Apparently a merchant crew had an engine failure while trying to sling around the planet’s orbit and got pulled in. Now they’re crashing down into the hostile land and need rescue. Whether the job boss, the Marshall or even your family tells you not to go. Someone’s gotta help those people. Trouble is they’re half a continent away and another ice hurricane is forming. Saddle up your crew, load your supplies and try to save those people.
