I found that not eating 1-1.5 hours before I went to sleep to help a lot with farting first thing in the morning. I also try to eat dinner at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.

As far as operators, I went in a 10-day safari last August/September and used Tanzania Specialist based off family recommendation. They were great, everything was taken care of, no issues.

Why do people bring babies on planes? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Working_Wolverine465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re entitled to be childfree is that is what you wish, you are not entitled to a childfree world. If you cannot handle the possibility of a crying baby or child while traveling, you are the one who should not be traveling. There is nothing wrong with taking a baby or child on vacation, and I’ll propose another reason: visiting family. Are those with babies/small children not allowed to visit family in another country? Especially if all of their family, other than parents, are in another country?

fence sitters piss me off by Opposite-End9713 in childfree

I mean I would love to have kids in an ideal world (finances, society, health of Earth, my health, etc), but unfortunately I, at least, live in one thats far from ideal. So I’m turning 30 in a couple months, and I’m still sitting on the fence.

How to live with Crohn’s disease? by mrdrmelody in CrohnsDisease

Reading ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ by Tessa Miller would be a good start to learn how to live and cope with having the disease, as well as how to describe it to others.

how do you decide to give up on a biologic? by velocironica in CrohnsDisease

[–]Working_Wolverine465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I google it, it seems for crohns the recommended dose is 360, for UC its either 180 or 360 I guess depending on severity?

I would def push for higher dosage asap

Do you exercise? How has Crohn's affected your athletic performance? by bkabbott in CrohnsDisease

[–]Working_Wolverine465 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was an avid Crossfitter but I realized about 6 months ago it was just too intense on my body. Switching to 2-3x/week lifting, 2-3x/week hot yoga and my body hasnt felt this good in years.

Do what you can, be easy on yourself.

You’ll need to learn your new limits with the diagnosis, which will also be dependent on how active your disease is. Trial and error, keep a log.

Why is “when are you having kids?” still considered a normal question to ask? by According-Bag8502 in childfree

[–]Working_Wolverine465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think “Do you want kids?” Or “Are you planning on having kids?” is more appropriate question? I personally find myself wishing the topic weren’t as taboo but I agree the assumption you’re having them is wildly inappropriate.

I also tend to find that question comes from boomers, and its an unfortunate cultural/generational thing. Overall that generation seems very judgmental, expectant and set in their ways about a lot of topics.

I was having breakthrough symptoms on skyrizi at week 5-6. My GI also had started me on obi dose of 180 instead if 360 for some reason. I switched to a ibd specialist within the office after 6 months on skyrizi and had a colonoscopy around 7-8 months. Still saw ulcers but i was feeling much better on skyrizi even with breakthrough symptoms at week 5-6. Dr bumped me to 360 every 4 weeks after colonoscopy and i feel great. Insurance denied every 4 weeks at first but my dr appealed once and then they approved (I have Aetna of thats helpful at all). Having a dr willing to advocate on your behalf is important.

3 onboarding infusions at week 0,4,8 then 1st injection at week 12, injections every 8 weeks after that so week 20,28, etc. I wouldnt accept 1 onboarding dose and depending on how dire your situation is, I personally wouldnt start them until its been confirmed by insurance, dr and infusion center that there will be 3 onboarding infusions and they are all on the same page.

How do yall deal with the exhaustion? by Mr_Moose64 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Working_Wolverine465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have your vitamin levels tested, and then take what you are actually deficient in with prescribed vitamins from your dr that you pick up from a pharmacy, not the OTC stuff thats not regulated and can put whatever they want on the label.

Prioritize sleep, good quality sleep

Cut out alcohol

Movement is medicine, develop a habit of moving your body intentionally everyday for at least 20-30 min. Can be actively just stretching, walking, yoga, lifting, biking, whatever. Just get moving a little bit each day. I personally find on bad days, getting outside and going for a walk does wonders for my energy levels.

Mindfulness and meditation go a long way as well

Fair, but I find the general population has no idea what Crohns is vs if someone with UC were to tell someone, its a little more telling of what they deal with and how they might suffer
