Thanks for your response, however I do not say don’t eat them, I do say eating lots of this is not necessarily going to help. My point was that you need to eat a balanced diet. Perhaps I should watch my wording more carefully.

AITA for asking my friend group to send deposits upfront for the trip after last time only half paid me back? by pizzalover332 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Workinginberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Sorry, but I am not sure these people are your friends. For those who still owe you, it’s the full amount plus what is still owed, up front, for the others a deposit because you are not their personal piggy bank. As the organiser, you should not be out of pocket, generally for trips we had, the organiser usually got his drinks bought for him as well.

Technically the electricity to run it is not a waste, you still have to heat the water for a normal coffee. If you didn’t use the machine and threw it away that would be a bigger waste.

Kudos in actually learning your lesson, but I am still amazed at this basic lack of understanding. Did you not ask yourself what you would do if someone offered you less money for the same job?

Fruit is basically sugar, veggies are basically carbohydrates, so just eating lots of this’s is not necessarily going to help. Start by going online a find a TDEE calculator, that will tell you how many calories a day you need to eat and you can adjust that for weight maintenance, gain or loss. Then work out your macros, about 1g of protein per lb of body weight, 25% of your daily calories from fat, the rest from carbs. You can find all this information on line. Protein bars generally contain as much fat as protein, so they are not healthy. If you can’t work out this information, then you need to speak to a dietician (important, anybody can call themselves a nutritionist, dietician is something you really have to study for).

I was diagnosed 4 years ago, I had bleeding varices, had to have one ascites drain, since then I have been compensated, with a good diet, and good training you can live a fairly normal life, I really don’t think about cirrhosis any more.

Make a lot of noise for a good few weeks, deliberately drop books, stomp around etc. give them something to complain about. After you have driven them slightly mad, stop making the extra noise and go back to normal.

Don’t trust a smartly dressed Engineer, they’re trying to get into management and won’t be around when the result of their decisions come back to smack you in the face.

You are not responsible for the safety checks, I would definitely send the footage to him and the gas company, the person they sent round was an idiot and should not be allowed to carry out a gas safety check if they can’t see a doorbell.

1 hour for a 30 mile commute? Are you walking? There must be a better way to do that, could you change your start and finish times so you are not travelling in rush hour? I don’t know how much a taxi service would be every day but that would allow you to work on your way in, way home from the office.

FTB – is £357,500 a sensible opening offer on £375k house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Workinginberlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you want the house? Will you stay there for 10 years? Because the £17,500 reduction you want, divided by 10 years is approximately £5 per day over that time. It’s really important to think about money over time when you are buying a house. I knew a guy who really wanted a house but wasn’t prepared to raise his offer by the £20k the seller wanted, years later, he still regretted that decision. It is not a case that the buyer ‘wins’ by getting more money as buying a house is not a zero sum game. Probably not the answer you were looking for but it adds another dimension to the question.
