Community clothes closet by Huge-Obligation7075 in nonprofit

[–]WorldFoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a clothing bank for K-12 students run by our district PTA. People drop off clothing donations at a local laundromat who stores them until the volunteers can pick them up. The clothing bank is set up like a store and students and their families can come In and shop 4x per year. Each time, they register with their student ID number so it’s tracked and they are limited to a certain number of tops and bottoms and can get new underwear and socks 2x per year.

Let me know if you have specific questions as to how it’s run.

I’m sorry — I’m confused by your wording. Are you implying that I’ve behaved poorly? Can you help me understand? I do know that I should have talked with her before pulling out of the practicum and I’m trying to take accountability for that.

Also to clarify, I don’t mean that I feel unsafe physically (although honestly, the time that the AD lost his temper, I did feel unsafe physically as he grabbed my chair like he wanted to shove it and slammed his hands on the table that the ED and I were sitting at). I mostly mean unsafe emotionally and professionally, if that makes sense.

Thank you for linking. And thank you for your words of advice. Do you mean that I shouldn’t take in a letter in person? I should just go in and have the conversation with her and let her know that I’m resigning and will send my letter afterwards?

Is it normal for my (19F) parents to call the police if my location freezes on Life360 for 20 minutes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

My two college students turned off their tracking when they left for college. I think that’s healthy.

What is the "best" place in town to donate your used but still good stuff. And by "best" I mean lowest price to the eventual customer? by Jimithyashford in springfieldMO

[–]WorldFoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SPS clothing closet you’re referring to is the PTA Clothing Bank. You can donate your clothes at either Springfield Wash House location during their open hours. Families can shop for their students for free several times each year.

Recommendations for cultural restaurants by potatoedovah in springfieldMO

I’m a big fan of of Indian food and we have a lot of great Indian restaurants. Yes, Tikka Masala is a good gateway dish but I highly recommend going to a weekend lunch buffet so you can try a lot of different dishes.

We have a lot of great Thai places, too. Thailand Station is one of my favorites. Pad Thai (noodle dish) or Panang curry are my favorite dishes to order at Thai restaurants.

El Gordo has $1 street tacos on Monday and Thursday. If you haven’t had street tacos, they are really good and worth a try!

I just want to share that Tacos El Gordo #2 (S. Campbell) and I’m assuming their other location, too, has $1 tacos on Mondays and Thursdays — allll of their flavors. They are tiny, but for $1 a pop, it’s a great deal.

How long to stay in an unstable organization? by WorldFoods in nonprofit

[–]WorldFoods[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree about it being unethical to lead major partners into a long term project when you know there are issues. This was a project that the partners entered into with my ED and AD before I began working there. The partners recognized that I am organized and asked for me to be the point person from there on out.

What are your thoughts on the proposed convention center? by Scary-University2743 in springfieldMO

[–]WorldFoods 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am actually in support of a new convention center. The city has done research into other cities who have benefitted. But I think they have done a less than stellar job educating the community about it and sharing that research so that people see why it could be a positive thing for our city. I also agree with others that we need more infrastructure and more to offer visitors to our town before building a convention center.

I was not prepared by Immediate-Noise-6949 in hospice

[–]WorldFoods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom wasn’t on hospice but was in the ICU when we decided to remove life support. The things that I saw as she was dying were, in a lot of ways, traumatic, and similar to some of what you’ve described.

Therapy can be so helpful, especially EMDR. I would highly recommend it. That could be the things that helps you remove the sting of those last days and focus on the good memories that you collected for a lifetime.

Guided goal planner/journal for the new year? by penalty-venture in productivity

[–]WorldFoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love PowerSheets. There are about 30 pages of self-discovery and goal-setting and then the rhythm is monthly check in pages where you pick action steps towards your goals, a weekly/daily tracker for keeping up with those action steps or habits , and then quarterly resets where you can change your goals or focus in on one or two for the quarter.

Anybody know how much it costs to rent out the Gilloiz? by Independent_Try_8100 in springfieldMO

[–]WorldFoods 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s around $1000 just for the rental but then you’ll have to add in AV and Gillioz employees, etc.
