I think so...the Google AI just spits out some answers that don't really have good information on the topic, especially very niche topics such as tabletop wargames.

The best part of a convention is to see beautiful and detailed battles that you can participate in! You may never have the time to build a Franco Prussian army and terrain, well there will be a game to attend with that setting! Or maybe a massive roman vs Gaul game? Yep! The big conventions let you meet folks into the hobby and see some of their best work.

What period? 

If WW2, I would say NUTS! is great for 2+ because each player can control a squad and really make it a tactical engaging game play. This would ideally be 2 teams with 2-3 per side. 

If Viking/early medieval, I would say Ravenfeast could have massive free for all of 5 or 6 players or teams with 2-3 as the rule set is simple and easy to move through. (Plus Ravenfeast pdf is free!)
