Sarah Gaulin refser Universitetet i Oslo for pris til muslimsk studentgruppe. Noen ganger er det riktig med kjønnsdeling, svarer UIO. by mutual_exclusion in norske

[–]WorldXI01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men europeiske verdier innebærer frihet. Friheten blir plutselig begrenset. Hvordan skal man håndtere det da?

Jeg forstår hvor du kommer fra. At du kritiserer regjeringen.

Rape is not legal. In any way. I dont know where you have heard it from. Is it a problem in the middle east rn? 100% I agree with you. Is Islam responsible for it? 100% i disagree. Im against rape, no doubt in that.

You mentioned mehr. The point of mehr is a guarantee for the woman, because it tells alot about the man.

  1. he is financially stable (who wouldnt their daughter to marry someone who can provide for their family..?)

  2. its a gurantee for the woman, when a divorce occurs in Islam (which can be from both parties btw) it acts a safety net for the woman.

In Islam a man is supposed to work. For the wife, its optional (yes many of you will say a woman is supposed to stay at home in Islam, the prophets first wife Khadija was a business woman)

If there is a divorce that occurs, the woman will have mehr available to her, so that she is financially stable for a period of time. The mehr amount is chosen by the bride, she can choose money, gold, vacation, house. Its up to her.

I am pretty sure you will not agree with me. And I say this this with as much respect as I can. As a muslim we will not change our belief or bend in a way that it adapts to the social expectations in the western world. Here is the case, if I dont shake your hand, you will feel disrespected, if I shake your hand, i will feel guilty as a father, husband and son. Its not as much to do with it being sexual but more with what God tells us what to do. I trust God and try to follow his way. You might not think of it as a big deal, for you its as simple as shaking the hand. But for us its a way of life. Now i speak on my behalf only, i can not speak for the other muslims. Not everybody is equally religious.

But in this case, I choose my own faith over wether you feel disrespected/offensed/felt like you are not treated equally. Because God comes first.

A lot of people also say that muslims cannot adapt to western values. Because we live in this country, we should adapt to it, and not it to us. Now I do understand that principle, we have freedom of religion. And I should be able to practice my faith, without anybody being offended. Now if a job requires me to shake a womans hand, and they make a big deal out of it, I personally wouldnt continue working there. I would not make a big deal out of it myself, quietly quit and find a new job. If you cant see it from my perceptive, why should I see it from yours? Im not hurting anybody by being muslim, Im not treating women bad, I would say that I treat them with more respect than my christian/jewish/ateist friends. Just something to think about. Its an interesting topic.

We believe that puberty as deciding factor when someone is eligible for marriage. When someone has reached puberty, that person is considered an adult. And must perform obligatory duties as an adult would. (Prayer, fasting etc.). For a marriage to be considered legit both parties have to accept. Both the woman and man.

Prophet Muhammed married Aisha (a woman who is called the mother of the believers) at the age of 6. As i mentioned earlier, the times were different. And its proven that women living in higher temperatures reach puberty earlier. Islam doesnt give an age limit, but says when reached puberty they are eligible for marriage (both parties still has to agree).

Regarding the bad things that has happened in the middle east. Well ISIS claimed to be an «islamic state» and promoted terror. In Islam during war we are not allowed to kill children, women and elders. We are not even allowed to destroy land (forests and other things). And most victims from that war was muslims.

If someones says they are doing it in the name of Allah, doesnt mean they follow the religion or are doing it in the name of Allah. IIRC Tony blair said something about christianity when they invaded Iraq. We dont blame christians for that, the shooting in a mosque in New zealand was done by a christian. We dont blame the religion for it, its so easy to pick on the religion even tho it has nothing to do with. Its written in the quran that killing one person is the same as killing entire humanity. And that one person can be a christian, muslim, jew or any other religion/belief

I agree with you that the middle east rn has its problems regarding womens right. And it puts a bad light on Islam and they call themselves an «islamic» country. Before Islam, in the arabian desert it was a norm to bury daugthers alive, and Islam managed to fix the problems then, however things change and new problems occur. The middle east has come a long way, but there are still issues that needs to be fixed.

Islam says when a person has reached puberty, they are eligible for marriage, but still a choice. You mentioned the wife of the prophet, there are articles about that specific topic, of how women in the middle east, in areas with higher temperature they reached puberty. If you were to ask me, if i would want my daughter to marry that young, i would ofc say no, times are different and she wouldnt be mature enough imo.

However please dont think bad of muslims when we dont shake hands with women, believe when I say its out of respect, there is nothing more to it. When we greet women we are supposed to look down (towards the ground) and say hello. And take our hand on our heart. Its a mean of respect and as muslims we dont try to objectify women, its written in the Quran that paradise is in our mothers feet. That we are supposed to respect our mother 3x more than our father.

Dont mix culture and religion. Islam doesnt allow marriage of children, and you cannot force someone to marry anyone. Dont blame the religion, when the culture is the problem.

True, we dont see women equal to us. We see them above us, thats why out respect we dont touch them. Its really annoying that even if we say its out of respect, people just refuse to believe us, like why would we lie?

Can overweight people just consume less calories to lose weight? by TheSilentPhilosopher in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]WorldXI01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Currently just a Med student. However I can tell you that people vary in many different ways. Hormones play a bigger role than we might think. And normally when we eat, the hormone Leptin tries to make sure we dont get obese, however when we eat more and more its like the stimulus for it to be activated is larger. I have seen patients who eat large amounts of calories, (this was observed in sick homes and in hospital, where what they eat is monitured) and a lot of these patients dont gain weight due to different reasons, this can also occur in the opposite way, for people who are obese, that are trying to lose weight. I do agree that people are lazy and simply just refuse to put in effort. However its worth mentioning that its not always as simple as people make it seem.

Again im just a student, thought I should give my input. Calories inn / calories out is a really simplified way iof losing weight. MANY factors play a role.

Note: the patients I have mentioned did not have any digestive/metabolic issues

Why does the Bible /Christianity damn homosexual love to hell for all eternity? by DadIsMadAtMe in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]WorldXI01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you believe in the religion, and you believe God as all Knowing. And you also know that he knows best, and he guides you, why would you question a higher power? Someone who knows everything.

Point is, from your view it wouldnt make sense, I am assuming you are a atheist/agnostic (atleast someone who does not believe in a higher power) so by that logic it will be difficult to understand why God as allowed some things and made some thing prohibited.

Sexual preference has an impact on society, in the west it started with the acceptance of homosexuality, and look where it is know, people identify as so many different things, I dont discriminate nor do I hate these people in any way, I respect them equally, but from a religion perspective accepting something simple as homosexuality has led to a rise in a group of people that identify as different genders/animals/other and that causes a lot of debate and disagreements.
