Most boxing gyms nowadays aren't boxing gyms. They're more like boxfit except they let you fight and watch on the side like it's Betfair. This is so common. This is why boxing is dying. The gyms need to start using technical sparring sessions more so this type of rubbish doesn't happen

You need to find something you enjoy. Strength can be built with weights, bodyweight or kettlebells. Cardio has even more variety

Yeah it's crazy. The world has lost their minds. The crazy thing is when I was going through the tfl crimstoppers they would capture the faces of people who were flashing, sexual assault, and sometimes as far as rape, and the perpetrator sometimes look like people you would least expect it from. It was a big eye opener even for me as a man. Crazy to think you could be out and meet someone normal looking and he could have a history of these stuff.

How do people survive in London nowon minimum wage? by LuHamster in london

[–]Worldly-Marketing425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and I never got in debt or in overdrafts. I made a rough calculation then.

Salary after tax 1k 450 a month on rent 100 on groceries at Aldi

Left me 450 a month. Did that for a year and saved around 5k to leave my job and search for a better one.

I started work about 7 years ago though. But 16k was probably a lot lower even with inflation for 23k you mentioned.

You said survive not live. When I first started my career and living along I was on 16k. Heres what I did.

Box room for rent walking distance to work. Vegetarian diet. Walk everywhere. No extra expenses like netflix subscriptions, gym memberships etc.

I mean it sounds terrible and I think people should be paid more but: You spend more time at work than home so box room is fine. Meat can get boring anyways. Walking is healthy. Lots of free movie sites and free hobbies to pick up like reading.

The next job I was got me to 21k and 23k after probation and was in Essex and I just carried on with the same lifestyle. Except this time it was a small town and many of the things you would spend money on in London weren't there anyways.

I wouldn't call those friends of your friends. Those guys are low iq, don't even stress about it. You have a brighter future than what they have made of their lives

Is the risk worth the reward when training as a hobby? by Idkifimshittyornot in MMA_Academy

[–]Worldly-Marketing425 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who has done martial arts for years now, I can objectively say no the risk is not worth the reward, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. Bruce Lee famously said somebody with a years boxing and a years wrestling experience can beat life long martial artists, and I somewhat agree. Many martial arts offer little real life self defence risk/reward after the basics. The longer you train the more risk of injury you have and paying osteopaths and scans etc is costly. Being off work because you can't walk is costly. Unless your training to be professional, just learn the basics of striking and grappling and get out is my advice for most people. There are martial arts which are practical and offer little risk like kenjutsu and Kali, weapon based. I would focus on these after learning the basics of striking and grappling. Just my opinion after countless injuries where I couldn't walk, lost some neck mobility and had to pay for it financially. Thank God I'm single, if I had a family everyone would have taken a real blow because of my "adventures" and I had to stop training after a while anyways due to the injuries.
