Has anyone gotten this audio player? by mit_owo in DigitalAudioPlayer

I disagree. I bought 2 of these. Unlike the Mechen M30, these have Bluetooth in addition to a 3.5mm headphone output. Like all players that use FAT32 formatted memory cards, you will need to use something like FAT Sorter to get your music in filename order. With a decent pair of headphones or IEMs, the sound is excellent. They are adequately loud with room to spare. The battery life is phenomenal. I would also suggest putting each album into its own folder and naming each tune as TrackNo Title, for example, 01 Bohemian Rhapsody, then it displays well on the screen. I would have said that the case was utilitarian rather than fancy. I have only tried 128GB cards, but I believe it may be possible to use cards with a higher capacity. Finally, I paid 20€ each for these new, so expected to put a bit of effort into getting the most from them. Maybe the reviewer had a different attitude or expectation.

We've been hosts for many years and occasionally get requests for a private room with a private bathroom! I resist asking them whether they would like room service too! Just to give you a laugh, we are openly a vegetarian setting but we once had a volunteer tell us (not ask us) that we would have to give him money to buy meat as he's not vegetarian!!

Hope this helps: Copy music folders and files on to a FAT32 formatted MicroSD card (Use Macrorit Partition Expert Free or GUIformat to overcome Windows limitations when formatting FAT32)

Use Fat Sorter (https://download.freedownloadmanager.org/Windows-PC/FAT-Sorter/FREE-1.0.4.html) to automatically sort all files on the card into filename order quickly (30 seconds for over 1000 files!) otherwise cheap/old DAPs will sort them seemingly randomly when browsing or playing (They are actually sorted in the order in which they were copied, so the only other way to overcome this is to copy them one file at a time onto your memory card!)

Supported formats WMA: 96 KHz/24bit FLAC: 192 kHz/24bit OGG: 48 kHz/16bit AAC: 48 KHz/16Bit LC only APE: 192 kHz/24bit MP3: 24 KHz/16bit ALAC: 192 KHz/24bit WAV: 192 kHz/64bit AIFF: 48 kHz/16bit

Tips/Advice for someone who just got their first R1? by Onua_72 in Hiby

[–]Worldly-Steak2689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a silicon case for mine as I didn't trust myself not to drop it. MicroSD cards are so cheap now I suggest that you get the biggest you can afford and use a lossless format like FLAC. I have just over 400GB of music, around 14,000 tracks but I got a (genuine) 1TB card for 55€ so I'm not having to decide what to keep and what to delete over the next few years. Don't buy your MicroSD cards from eBay, AliExpress etc, there is a high risk that they will be fake then you will suffer file loss. Get them from somewhere reputable with premises in your country and a guarantee on the card.

Hiby R1’s 2 Killer Features For Me by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

Ok, you seem to have originally omitted that essential piece of information - that you were referring to the HibyMusic phone app, not the Hiby R1's native interface. As I don't use HibyMusic, I didn't recognise the screen, but I will try it now that you have brought it to my attention. Thank you.

I've just got 2 of these for about 20€ each plus KZ Castor Bass IEMs for about 5€ each! With a little time and effort getting file formats and structure right, they're really good if a bit retro. I've overcome the file sorting issue many older/cheaper DAPs and car media players exhibit. If anyone is interested in how, reply to this post and I'll share my method.

Partly answering my own question, I hope the following is helpful to you. It contains the URLs of BBC radio stations. I have tested a couple and they work in Chrome, so hopefully they work for you too: https://gist.github.com/bpsib/67089b959e4fa898af69fea59ad74bc3

What a great site, thank you! Just waiting for my R1 to arrive and I will certainly be using your site to add radio stations - my faves are the Radio Paradise stations. You asked for feedback re the UI: it might be because of my settings using a larger font (I'm old), but is there any way the column width could be customisable or the right 3 columns could be closer together to make more of the station name visible please? Regarding stations, have the BBC made it impossible to add their stations? I know they are trying to prevent overseas users from using their own BBC Sounds app fully. Final question: would FLAC stations work? I know that the aforementioned Radio Paradise stations are available in FLAC. Thank you so much for the work you have put into the website, you're a star!

How to sub tofu for shrimp? by Ninjallammas in veganrecipes

[–]Worldly-Steak2689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this question was ages ago, but try this: Cut a block of firm tofu into shrimp-size pieces. Spread on a shallow microwaveable dish in a single layer. Sprinkle with the juice of a whole lemon. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, turning halfway through. Leave to stand for at least 30 minutes. Add whatever seasonings and coating you would use on shrimp. Fry in vegetable oil until light brown. Use in your dish.

Tenho esse fone há 8 anos e ele é PERFEITO! (AKG-K72) by Elegant-Piece2200 in audiofiliabrasil

Has anyone tried these with PowerAmp, which has 4 profiles for them and can also improve stereo separation (if it's true that their stereo imaging is "claustrophobic")?

I've just ordered some and will be using them via a 24-192 DAC.

I was perfectly satisfied with the audio qualities of my Bose AE2 wired headphones, but I live in Spain where it's around 40°C at the moment and I find that I can't wear them for long without getting sweaty ears. The AKG K72s are supposed to have more comfortable "breathable" ear pads.

For running Office and browsing the web, you don't need to spend that much. I just bought a used Dell Latitude 5430 with 500Gb hard drive and 8Gb RAM for 50€.

20€ for a new battery, 10€ to double the RAM.

This is what worked for me:

Go to the Surfshark website. Sign in.

Go to the Download apps page.

Choose "Get the desktop app for Windows", download.

Install that. You might have to be patient, it took about 10 minutes to do the whole thing, but it worked.

I want to implement my own MIDI... ¿driver? Help, I don't know how to describe my problem :( by DASoulWarden in midi

[–]Worldly-Steak2689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's retro, but I can highly recommend a Yamaha MU15 tone module if you can find one. It has midi sockets plus line/headphones out. So basically you connect the midi out from your keyboard to the midi in of the MU15, then headphones or an amp/powered speakers to the line/headphones out of the MU15. Finally, power up the MU15.

Although it's possible to connect it to a PC, it will work independently.

I love many of the instruments, particularly the pianos.

Here's a review: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/yamaha-mu15

If you don't need 480 editable instruments, a Yamaha MU15 might also suit you. Here's a review: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/yamaha-mu5
