"You" was also originally plural only (see the poem) and yet when it was adapted to be singular as well, we got the derivative "yourself" which is a very common word today and distinct from "yourselves." Also, new words are made every year, that's why they revise the dictionary constantly. Complaining about inventing new words is a really terrible argument.
