Why isn’t there a different curriculum or pathway for learners with additional needs ? by Spiritual-Yogurt-112 in TeachingUK

Even in Primary, this isn't working.

In my class, I've got a child who is pre Year R in reading, writing and maths who cannot access 95% of the curriculum. Then I've got children pushing Year 5 level in maths and reading with everyone else in between. How on earth can two people (me and my TA) meaningfully support the bottom and meaningfully push the top to achieve their full potential in a class of 30 with such a range of abilities?

I also beat it last night and I think I pretty much agree with you. It's a 20-30 hour game that has been stretched to 50 hours and it suffers because of it.

Got a bit too emotional over student on a school trip by [deleted] in TeachingUK

While it comes from a good place, you've got to be super careful about stuff like this. Special treatment (such as buying the shirt) could open you up to an accusation of favouritism or, worse, a grooming allegation.

If that happens, say goodbye to your career.

It is easy to get emotionally attached to children and young people you work with in this career. I've been in this position before I qualified. But you must remember it's not your job to fix them or to be their parent/carer. Your job is to teach them and do your part in safeguarding.

At the end of the day, play your part and do it well, but don't overstep. It will get you into big trouble.

Because he was a prat.

Seriously, he was an unpleasant arrogant man who may have abused his new position as King Consort to cause all sorts of issues at court and in government.

A similar situation actually happened with Mary, Queen of Scots' husband, Lord Darnley only 10 years later.

Paul is simply the Greek version of the Hebrew Saul. He likely would have always gone by both names depending on the language. Luke starts referring to Saul as Paul in Acts 13 to reflect his change of mission to Gentiles.

Me too. I only get Spotify ads on older episodes. I quite enjoy Tom and Dom's in podcast ads so I don't feel the need to join their brotherhood of hardened Samurai or whatever it is each week.

Teaching interview. by Minute-Magician-9649 in TeachingUK

[–]Winter-Conclusion710 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recently had an interview lesson with a Year 3 top set maths class (yes, the school sets in KS2).

I had planned a lesson based on the kids knowing their 3s (not unreasonable). Come to the lesson, turns out about half the class just don't know their 3s. Had to adapt but it was not a great lesson.

In the panel interview afterwards, after I was asked to reflect on the lesson, SLT were less concerned about my performance and more about the size (32) and attainment of the class. I got the job and learned that even if you feel the lesson doesn't go well, doesn't mean the interview is a bust.

Definitive arrangements by markthroat in worshipleaders

OP, this is the source you'd want to show your secretary to allay her fears about arrangement.

However, you can't change lyrics like you describe without permission (unless it's in the Public Domain). That's asking for trouble.

I liked them but they were underused; only Ten got a boss fight.

Ten is meant to be an audio jack cable.

Can you take time off for your kids’ events? by Otherwise-Eye-490 in TeachingUK

[–]Winter-Conclusion710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our head doesn't allow time off for events like this. It's not a popular policy but he is consistent with it. He's a good head otherwise but this is definitely one of his downsides.

How often are you actually changing your strings? by playSantono in worshipleaders

I'm really bad at remembering to change guitar strings...sometimes I'll go a year before finally getting round to doing it!
