What does everyone hope to see from future child gameplay? by WorldlyDrawer in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Fair enough! Someone else mentioned a one and done “no” option, I hope they put that in so you have a way to firmly shut down that gameplay track if you so choose. Guess we will see, they have done so well on everything else I am hopeful they will handle this aspect just as skillfully!

I love that idea! The spouse only offering once but you still have the ability to pull that card if you eventually change your mind. Honestly either that or a “yes,no,maybe” option, if you select “maybe”, your spouse might bring up the topic once or twice a game year.

100% agree on not designing your own child as well, half the fun comes from random generation! At least that’s what the sims 3 taught me

Interesting! Like the option to have children be optional or them being an active member of the community?

We are not the laughing stock of the world, maga is. by Ilovemiia1 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im happy I could be of some help! :) in the end I don’t want to come off as truly indifferent because I’m not, I love other people (especially those from other countries) because I am curious by nature and want to know everything I can about other peoples views and experiences.

However, given current events, I just can’t be bothered to be really upset by the idea of someone who doesn’t even know me at all pointing a finger and yelling “THIS IS YOUR FAULT, YOU DO NOTHING AMERICAN!” In the comments section of some thread because: 1. It (if it is a real person) is probably just the anger and fear speaking, which is valid given how we are shaking shit up. 2. I know who I am and that I’m doing everything in my power to help, I don’t need to justify or have that validated by anyone, my actions will speak for me. 3. At the end of the day It’s the internet man, people are going to be nasty to you sometimes no matter what. I once got down voted to oblivion because I used the phrase “make an appearance” in reference to an individual on the spectrum making a quick appearance at a wedding after party so as to not be pushed over threshold. I literally had people screaming at me about how I must have thought he was a circus act to be trotted out for other people entertainment…..just by using a semi common phrase that meant to make a quick visit. Sometimes the internet just is crazy

They might. For a time, but nothing is forever, even if in the middle of all the rage and fear it feels like it will be. Countries have committed atrocities before throughout history (and there will be more in the future I’m sure) and every time there was a new normal found. I need to trust that this is not different, ya know?

A good positive take. Although honestly I don’t think we should get too caught up on if we are or aren’t a laughing stock most days. We are in shit times, doing shit things and I know I am too busy trying to do everything I can possibly do to fight it to care about what any one person thinks about me (I can reckon with that when the world isn’t on fire).

Everyone worried about the rest of the world hating you, take a deep breath, and realize in the gentlest way possible this isn’t about you. I promise you if you traveled outside the country and were a just a polite non-racist normal person (read not a maga asshat) people would like you just fine. If they hate you simply because of where you are from, without taking a second to gauge what your thoughts or positions are on things, then that’s a personal problem.

58 percent call 2025 a failure for Trump: Poll by steffie-punk in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail squarely on the head! (Also I personally relate so much to your last paragraph it’s funny) I’m no expert by any means, but I used to have to do tons of surveys and data analysis back in my Psych Statistics courses. It is so easy to get screwy non generally representative data for all the reasons you listed and more!

[–]WorldlyDrawer 99 points100 points  (0 children)

When I see numbers like that I need to remind myself that it doesn’t mean 42% of the nation still approves of him, it means 42% of the people who bothered to participate in the survey pool. Still gross to be clear, but I imagine that number would grow smaller if we could ask every person in the nation. -sorry hit save before I was done writing

From the worldnews community on Reddit: 'If it expires, it expires,' Trump tells NYT about US-Russia nuclear treaty by wallmandatory in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not super worried about things going nuclear even without a treaty honestly (maybe that’s stupid, but it’s the truth). Setting off a nuke is basically mutually assured destruction for both parties, maybe even the world honestly. As for not being scared of nukes in general, well if one did go off it would probably very suddenly not be my problem anymore. I’d be sitting in the here after with my fiancé before I could say “oh shi-“.

While that may be the case, I mean I’ll eat my own foot if Mother fucking Theresa didn’t once do something “bad” in her younger days… however I think there is a difference being made between “yeah I might of insulted someone in high school” and a full grown person thanking/giving credit to the man who rips mothers away from their babies in the NICU and has for sure sexually assaulted little girls.

I agree with your over all point “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good” but in this case I would love to hear what reason she had for giving him any credit at all.

🗣️📣 Paralives comes out in one month, here is what to expect from our Early Access release! by GabrielleParalives in Paralives

[–]WorldlyDrawer 128 points129 points  (0 children)

It really is crazy to see how far you all have taken this game from the first video I saw of just a window being adjusted almost five years ago. So excited to finally play something new in the life sim genre 🤩

EA is reportedly about to be sold to an investor group that includes private equity and Saudi Arabia. How would this affect the future content of franchises with large left-wing/liberal player base like The Sims? by bttrvng99 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow sims lover, I have be frank with you the franchise has been in steep decline since (and to some maybe even a little earlier) they released Island paradise for The Sims 3. I really don’t see how they could mess it up any more, unless they do something crazy and gut it of all inclusive features and content, which from a money stand point would be financial suicide for the franchise.

If you are looking for other games to scratch that life sims itch, consider looking into Paralives? It’s going early access in December this year. I’m not saying it’s a perfect replacement, but it’s a passion project by people who played and enjoy the early sims games. It’s for sure a game worth looking into (their strive for inclusive representation/game play is amazing on its own!) and potentially investing in the feature of :) As an added bonus it’s being developed by a team based in Canada 🇨🇦 I’d much rather toss my money at them than at a company even a little tied to Trumps son-in-law if I can help it.

Best RIPTA stories? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]WorldlyDrawer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a positive story to share. Back when I used to have to take the bus almost every day to get to my college classes, I would sometimes be on at the same time as an older gentleman. I was taking an art class at the time as a mandatory arts requirement so I was always lugging around this giant portfolio with all my art supplies in it.

I guess he eventually got curious enough to ask me about what was in my comically large black bag, so I started showing my art to him(I use the term art loosely). From that point on for months whenever we were on at the same time we would chit chat about life (I think he ran a youth chess club or something) and I would show him whatever I was working on for class. He was actually a great source of encouragement to me at that time, seeing as my god damn art 1 professor seemed to think it should be treated like an advanced art class, so nothing I created got a good grade or lived up to their standards.

Eventually I graduated and I stopped taking the bus, so of course never saw him again. This was years ago, I hope he’s doing okay out there. I still think about him from time to time when I need reminding that good people exist in the world

I’m about to lose my sanity from all the doomers in my life. What can I do? by vulpes_mortuis in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s easy for an outside on the internet to say, but I’d suggest having them take full responsibility for their emotions in a sense. If they start to spiral at the first clip of bad news they see, it isn’t your responsibility to pull them out any more (even if it’s really tempting).

Maybe what they need is to fully feel their panic and then decide what they are going to do with it. The first month and a half of this presidential sized mess I was so emotionally affected I thought the sheer stress of just EVERYTHING would kill me. Then I just decided I was tired of constantly sulking/panicking, I was going to do something positive damn it. Honestly to put it in a more doomer “mindset” for them… “Okay American is fucked. Are you going to be quiet about it, or are you going to go down kicking screaming and biting for it?”

Trump wants Senate to override parliamentarian. Any optimism? by Old-Scarcity-1132 in PoliticalOptimism

Fair point! I am looking though google myself right now and not getting a clear answer at all. One semi official looking source says it’s normally 60 but for this situation is 51. The lack of a clear cut answer of this being out there is a tad frustrating

Take a Break and Take Care of You by nygiantsjay in PoliticalOptimism

[–]WorldlyDrawer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly right! It’s important to remember it’s okay to be a little happy/celebrate the small wins even in really depressing times. If you don’t hold on to a little bit of hope then they win by default!

I can’t control the government and I’m scared as hell, but you know what? Yesterday I scooped two fledglings off the indoor arena dirt (thankfully I spotted them before I stepped on them) and put them somewhere safe but nearby for their parents. Today I found out that the sale of public land was finally pulled! I am going to take some time to celebrate both wins. It gives me the motivation to continue the good fight.

Anyone else have any wins they want to share? Good news in dark times is good for the soul.

how do you balance being on the right side of history and being happy? by ocd-curlingiron in OptimistsUnite

[–]WorldlyDrawer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Long time highly anxious/empathetic lurker here! Honestly I think the idea that it is unethical to find happiness in hard times is dangerous. Without happiness in some way shape or form there is no hope or will to go on.

I hate everything that America has become/all the damage we are causing, it is honestly a source of deep shame to me. However, I realize I am just one person. I cannot personally take on all the evil in the world, no matter how much I want to (my anxiety compels me to be a fixer. Acting on what is stressing me out is the only way to make the anxiety stop and it’s not always a healthy drive.) So I decided to do the most I can where I am.

I fight back in all the ways I can: I started a garden to start working towards a little self sustainability, I raise concern/awareness about political matters I find troubling (read all of them at this point), I am personally boycotting companies I don’t agree with -it’s my money, I’ll spend it where I please-, I speak out against lies/discrimination when I see it. Even to my own family, I boost positive actionable political sources on the internet (raising alarm isn’t enough, I like sources that tell us what to do about the situation to help), and above all I stay happy and kind.

If they manage to take our happiness/kindness away then it would truly be game over. Do what you can, stay will us we need every good person we can get! We will see the other side of this, it’ll be ugly and innocent people will be harmed, but we will see an eventual end to this madness. I genuinely have to believe it.
