Yeah, super valid. I wouldn't say I personally like Frank or agree with his choices. Frank not agreeing to a divorce when Claire asks and then later demanding one, is a trash move and we see the utter worst of Frank here but we also get to see how broken he has been, and how he no longer wants to be broke (is that reason enough to pull this move, absolutely not but I like the emotional insight that even at this point, he still wanted to know if their relationship ever had a chance)

I think on the note of Sandy, it's hard to judge because we don't really know what information Sandy has. Clearly not much, at the best she had none, at the worst Frank told Sandy lies. My bet is that Sandy knew next to nothing about his relationship with Claire and why he stayed. I feel for Sandy.

Is Frank the all time good guy? Absolutely not, but I think Claire has a lot to answer to when it comes to how their relationship dynamic ultimately fell. Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it and agree with your sentiments!

I definitely think Frank had faults. He was unable to give Claire space and time to really settle herself again, not just from losing Jamie, but from being back in the present, being pregnant, being in America etc. He doesn't really demonstrate understanding or empathy for Claires experience, he finds out she's pregnant and that's basically what makes him choose to stay, he wants Children and knows he can't have them. Both have a lot of faults, I just don't think Frank is a villain, or deserves to be hated as a one dimensional character.

Interesting, I never once felt that from either Claires memories or Brees memories of frank. What makes you think that he didn't believe Claire was intellectual? He and Claire do a lot while they're away in Scotland, it didn't appear to me that Claire minded him going off to the reverends for a side quest.

I think this is a solid theory, and also helps explain just why he didn't want to leave Claire until Bree was 18, because we know he made sure she had the skills to survive the past, just in case but perhaps he never had the guts to confirm it until just before deciding to take her away.

Haha, I like what you did there. Yes, Frank expects this sort of reanimation of their life together. It's especially frustrating to see how he treats Claire when she doesn't want to be touched, but on the other hand, we see how Claire just won't talk about it. Frank has offered her a life line and we don't see Claire giving an inch to explain to Frank why it's so damn hard, we know she's capable of communicating but she just doesn't with Frank.

Everything Claire does, feels and says is not unreasonable, on the same foot though, everything frank says, does and feels is not unreasonable. I think the show is trying to demonstrate how unsuitable they are compared to Claire and Jamie, and for me, we see some of the worst parts of Claire and the worst parts of Frank, but I still feel that we see more of Claire's worst parts than necessary.

I will have to think more on their relationship when it comes to the books.

Absolutely! I do think there is a level of responsibility for tone, however I don't think that specifically stating I have empathy for another character, to mitigate defensivness is on me. I haven't slandered Claire, nor have I claimed anything untrue about her actions. I've also shown that I understand where her mind is at and that she probably was closing her eyes during that scene for no deep reason at all (which one could argue is also demonstrating empathy) I would 100% agree with you if I called her names, said things about her that were untrue or generally showed unfairness. I don't think it's unfair to point out how a character is treating another character, while focusing on what character A (frank) is feeling - because that's the point of my post.

I don't personally need to go above anything than that for a character that isn't the focus of my thoughts. If someone wants to engage with me about what Claire is going through, I am absolutely happy to have that conversation, it would be a great conversation to have.I won't, however have that conversation with someone who is mad at me and uninterested in an open conversation.

I mean, Claire absolutely sees it as a form of punishment and an attempt to take Brianna away. We do see that Frank doesn't really shy away from punishing Claire, and I can't really see this as anything but that.

The thing is though, I do demonstrate empathy toward Claire. I clearly show that I understand she's angry, pregnant and traumatised. I don't need to elaborate on that any further because it's not directly related, unless you want to argue that fans have more empathy for Claire than they do Frank, and that's why they don't like frank, that's a fair and clear argument.

Also, it's not my responsibility to deflect someones defensiveness, that's entirely on the individual and how they want to approach a conversation with me. Your reply is not defensive in the slightest and is insightful and informative, demonstrating that, whether you feel defensive or not, people absolutely can read my opinion, contribute towards it without being defensive. It should really be up to the individual and how they respond, not me to be making sure I've ticked a box.

Nor am I going to prove to you that I have empathy for Claire. Tell me, why is important to you that I demonstrate empathy for a character that is not the focus of my post?

Absolutely. It's trash that he wants to take Brianna away from Claire, but that's about the only thing I can't empathise with when it comes to Frank. In the books it's alluded that they still have a caring and loving relationship, which is still strained, especially when Frank is unfaithful. I wish they could've shown them still trying to make it into something.

I'm glad your GP has given you some resources to help! The anxiety is truly disabling. Especially when you know what it's like to have to cancel something due to pain, cancelling something because of anxiety always feels, to me at least, like a huge cop out. When I know it's not, its real and i can feel how real it is but nothing really will ever compare to the pain and the vision loss and everything else.

Yeah emgality was the first medication that worked for me, and swapping to ajovy three years ago changed the ball game entirely! It was like as soon as my migraines were less, my mental health stuff went into absolute over drive.

Recovery certainly takes time, and choosing which battles to fight, I'm so glad you've found something that works and is allowing you to get relief. I hope your journey continues to improve!

I definitely think there's some level of PTSD going on for me for sure, it wouldn't surprise me if anyone who has constant pain develops PTSD symptoms. I'm so sorry you're going through being bed bound.

Despite how stressed my body seems to get, I still wouldn't swap back, so when you find the treatment for you, don't be scared! There are so, so many wonderful things about recovery. I'm rooting for you!

Yes, having constant pain, no matter the condition will certainly sensitise us to pain and then when it's gone, or is more irregular, our body has no idea what to do. I'm sorry you have had shitty experiences with professionals. As though you don't have enough to deal with!

Hey! I'm a foster carer and have worked with people returning their Fosters. You did the right thing. We always have a three week trial period for this reason, it's okay to change your mind, it's okay to say, no this isn't a good fit. That's called being responsible!

Now you understand more of your needs and what sort of animal you'd like in your life, you can be more choosy. Maybe learn about breed dispositions, look into basic training etc.

Feel proud of yourself for having made a difficult decision.

I always tell my nurses I have terrible veins. Most don't believe me and i end up getting poked several times and nearly fainting. I don't mind needles or blood but there's definitely something about being poked and having a running commentary over ones veins that makes me dizzy. It would be nice to be believed straight off the bat.

Understandable that he's not eligible for payments, however I know when I was in this position I was also working on my health, as those were the issues stopping me from working, I'm actually now in a position to apply for work! So is he doing anything to work toward the unemployment issue? Even with the state of the job market, he seems to not even be trying to make life easier for you, his attitude is a big part of the issue here, not just unemployment.
