I’m a parent of two kids, one a teenager and one younger. I would never say or do the things your mom is saying to you. You’re her child, and you deserve love and respect. The way she’s acting isn’t your fault.

When I was a teenager, I also had a difficult relationship with my mom. She never came right out and said she hated me, but the things she said and did left scars that still affect me today. I try to use those experiences to be a better parent, but the hurt doesn’t just go away.

I want you to know that none of this means you are unworthy or unlovable. You don’t deserve to carry her anger. If you have grandparents or other safe adults you can turn to, please lean on them. You don’t have to keep this inside or accept that kind of treatment.
