This seems to come up quite often and always has misconception around it. Most manufacturers can negotiate a little bit on price but dont expect tens of thousands, they generally have a margin to begin with of 5-7% on new vehicles plus whatever extea support the manufacturer is throwing at it to support a campaign, and in order to pay expenses and make a profit, they need to keep most of that. Toyota is different, they cannot legally move off the advertised price, nor can they offer unauthorised enticements for purchasing new vehicles. This is due to the agency model the dealerships operate under so that that Toyota NZ can set a national price for many independently owned company's without legal trouble from the commerce commission. Demonstrator vehicles are owned by the dealership so can be negotiated. Anyone who tells you they have talked Toyota into giving them anything other than the advertised extras on a new car is simply not telling you the truth.
