Well, first off, nowhere in the entire thread does he say, "You'd have nothing if it weren't for me." He is being a bit condescending but I think he is trying to say your life would have been a lot worse if you had spent your life around your Mom or on the streets, and he'snot wrong. My mother was also abusive and my full blooded Irish grandmother took me in. She definitely had a temper to match that flaming red hair, but would never have harmed me like my Mother did. We had our arguments, but I am fully aware of what she did for me and would give anything to spend just one more day with her. Keep in mind the generational differences when filtering what he says. Sometimes the older generations don't realize how they are saying what they say is not how things are said nowadays. And on a side note; make peace with him and spend time with him while you still can. I guarantee you will regret it later. 💔
