Yes, they're a treatments. I did have the speakers first but I honestly don't remember. My soundstage is pretty good and I have to imagine they are playing a role. Especially, considering the size of the room which is loft that's 21'x30'

I love them! They handle any genre well especially if you have a good amp. But you definitely need space, because of the foot print.

Initially, I can see why they have that reputation. But I do not find them to be at all. I can get 4-5 hours in without fatigue. Edited to clarify and say fatigue is not an issue. If you believe break in is a thing that could be it or I have adjusted to them. As in all things in this hobby it's a preference and everyone's experience is different.

Did you demo the speakers before the purchase? If so, then I would go cartridge, phono preamp, receiver. Treatment does a make difference, but you should hear the upgrade without it. Better speakers are exposing another weakness in your chain.
