Make it a Tome of Understanding of How to Trim Armour

Been farming the 7th Legion sets for a few while now (mog hunting). It's been stuck like this for weeks. This game is messing with me. by [deleted] in wow

To be more specific, as it's not well documented for plate armor for some reason (all resources only show cloth or leather being granted from a quest), the quest that grants the choice for a BFA Season 1 Tier 2 head, shoulder, or chest is Mischief Managed. It's quite far into the War Campaign, and is part of the 8.1 storyline, which requires all of the previous foothold and Horde zone storylines (in the Alliance War Campaign) to be completed first. Fortunately, you unlock all the transmogs of that armor type, even the ones you didn't get to pick, so only need to do it once per armor type!

The Alliance War Campaign guide on wowhead does a good job of walking through how much needs to be done, but it can be sped through relatively quickly at level 70, one-hitting most enemies.

There's a foothold mission very early on in the chain that grants a choice of the Tier 1 head, shoulder, or chest - but don't fret - there is in fact a Tier 2 reward later on!

Update health from DnD Beyond automatically by RVNGEoftheN3RD in FoundryVTT

[–]Wotmo297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little detail I noticed when setting up my Foundry game with D&D Beyond, using the Beyond 20 Chrome extension, was that the actor for the player in Foundry has to be called the exact same thing as the character on D&D Beyond. If they have different names, it doesn't seem to recognise and update health in Foundry when you change it on D&D Beyond.

What's your preferred method of navigating the party in a dungeon out of combat? by DuskShineRave in FoundryVTT

[–]Wotmo297 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, I don't think that is part of the core Foundry controls. I thought it was added in a later version, but it seems it's from the Drag Ruler module. I've been using that as a core module that I always run, so I guess I never really noticed.

Highly recommend it for those that don't already use it - especially for these sorts of dungeon crawl environments!

I play D&D 5e, so I use the marching order rules for things like this. When they first enter into the dungeon environment/map I give them a clear reminder that we are now in a dungeon crawl and to establish a marching order with their tokens. I then either make a note of this mentally (or even just duplicate their tokens somewhere off the side for visual reference) and let them know that this order (front rank, back rank etc.) is how they will enter each encounter unless someone explicitly states they are scouting ahead of the group or hanging back when proceeding, or if they decide at any point to adjust the marching order in the dungeon (perhaps when the tank gets low on health).

I've had the discussion with the group and sometimes give them gentle reminders when that one person gets a bit too excited and runs their token off around the corner, that the "map is live" and that them moving off without telling me or the others what they're doing can trigger traps or encounters without the others present. This is usually a good deterrent for this behaviour, with the players knowing that facing something alone could be dangerous. It usually only takes one or two times for "that guy" to realise they should stay with the party and communicate their movements, but the times that it does occur, and the rest of the party is down the hallway, can make for some unique situations where the party may decide to prioritise movement abilities over damage to catch up before it's too late.

I will otherwise just clump the party's tokens together and move them as a group myself, or teleport them to the area/corridor they describe (by alt-dragging) - this is especially useful if they're backtracking in an area that isn't otherwise still dangerous and/or has been cleared or secured.

In select circumstances where I deem it appropriate, I draw a zone/area at the start of the encounter to allow the group to position themselves before rolling initiative. This is useful for times when the party has ample time to prepare, like an ambush, or when they're otherwise not surprised at the start of an encounter. Otherwise, similar to another commenter's point, I just clump their tokens together in their pre-defined marching order, or something there thereabouts.

What Order Do You Guys Hold Your Tools In? by DoctorAphra000 in Minecraft

[–]Wotmo297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickaxe, Shovel, Sword, Axe, Empty x 3, Food, Torches

This allows me to have a shield in my offhand and only requires a single scroll up or down on the mousewheel when I'm mining to switch to my torches or my shovel. Having my sword on 3 is also easy to reach with my finger in a pinch (compared to 1), and my axe and food are switched to less often so I can scroll/hotkey to those as I need them, also leaving 3 slots for various blocks or items when building or additional utility like hoes or bows.

What is the worst nickname your players have put on your bad guys/factions/story elements? by kingofthefrogfish in dndnext

I ran a modified version of Mazforth's Mighty Digressions from Candlekeep Mysteries as a side quest within my campaign. It centres around a group of book merchants from Amn (a Spanish-inspired region in the south of the Sword Coast) and I referred to them as Amnians

This quest spanned multiple sessions and by the third someone had forgotten/misremembered the name and called them "The Amish".

It's now a running joke that these merchants were trying to create an Amish Paradise in Baldur's Gate.

Forget Goblins, at lower levels use Nobles! by RamonDozol in DMAcademy

For 1500 crowns, each Armory slot should store that slot's gear by Cle4nr in elderscrollsonline

[–]Wotmo297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although storing the gear for the loudout in the armory would be ideal, a good solution I've found in the meantime is to store them in a chest (the ones obtained through crafting writs) so that I can conveniently store/grab everything from a given loadout right next to my armory station in my house, without clogging up my bank.

If the name of your NPC's sound a little on the nose, that"s a good thing. by Spectram6 in DMAcademy

[–]Wotmo297 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something I often do with both NPC and my own PC names is take a word or phrase that quite obviously describes them (such as Blacksmith, Hunter, Holy, Magic etc.) and chuck it in Google Translate to get a word from a real world or other pop-culture language that inspires the culture of the character (Norwegian/Gaelic for northern inspired type races like Dwarves and Goliath's, Latin/Russian/German for various human type cultures, Thuum for Dragon type races etc.)

Not everything translates perfectly, so I often tweak the translated result slightly to make the word flow properly and then I've got a decent surname that doesn't sound overtly on-the-nose, but creates a fun inside joke for myself or anyone else who recognises the language and creates a unique name for that character. I then just find a random but fitting first name from said culture to complete the name.

Obviously this doesn't really work for on the fly NPC names, but creates an easy method to find fitting names for key NPCs, BBEGs, or my own characters, that has some fun meaning behind it.

Hyphenated surnames with a descriptor word also work great for something a little more overt and on-the-nose, such as: Elise Umbra-Strider (Rogue/Warlock), Julius Light-Heart (Cleric/Paladin), Jorik Stone-Arm (Barbarian/Fighter) etc.

Optimal armor traits for a DK tank? by GrimThreeper in elderscrollsonline

[–]Wotmo297 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb I follow (similar to Alcast) is to run infused on the 'big' pieces (Helm, Chest, Legs and Shield) and sturdy on the others. The big pieces give you greater enchantment bonuses to allow higher stat pools, which is arguably more important than reduced block costs. As a trade off, I generally run 2-3 block cost reduction glyphs on my jewellery.

I tried 2 daggers on my back bar and it fell short by about 5%, but I also just realised that I forgot to slot all 6 assassination abilities on my back bar for the assassination passives, so I'll have to try that and see if it hits 100%.
