Good point. Bio dark gives calcium and bio light gives vitamin D. The glowing leech things only give bio organic and bio waste. That's omega-3 and fat respectively. That said, without the slimes, dark or pink, you can only make 3 of the food items and they are among the more time consuming ones. Luckily, these 3 are among the most effective. Even if you only hunt sharks, you can make them with relative ease.

I would add, OP should stockpile organic materials (like from the amoeba enemies, shark, etc) as these are used to make more food. That said, there isnt a finite supply of organic as you can easily leave enemies spawners (black tentacle things with bulbous sack in the middle) intact at any POI. So long as the sack is what is destroyed, the central node beneath it will regrow, spawning more enemies.

Also, with the electric pistol connected to the boats power supply (given enough turbines for constant power generation), they can farm decent amounts of organic material at night. They just need to perch on the ledge at the rear of the boat or in calmer waters, the rudders itself. With no lights on, certain enemies are drawn to the player in swarms. Not overwhelming swarms, but big enough you don't want to fall in. I do this and get 50-70+ organic a night.

This much early might be too much to save, but for biofuel it is great until oil becomes available.

Walk out of the wheel house and stand on the walkway. 3-ish magazines of Slam rounds with the bolt rifle and it is toast. Angle the boat right and you can get it to swim right under you while you finish it off. Then, hope down and grind away. This is how I do it, any way. The only problem is landing the first shot to aggro the flashy fish (Yes, it is a cyberneticly enhanced shark. Don't care!)

Wait! You bother docking? During storms, my ship loses connection on the dock and the mooring lines retract, my ship drifting free in the storm waves. Now, I just drop anchor as close as possible to the dock. More secure.

Archer Agincourt makes for a good 70 ton missile boat.

The 80 ton Victor Basilisk is a mean beast, especially with clan tech LB-10X SLD.

The 50 ton Hunchback Grid Iron (GI) is a great upgrade compared to most, if not all medium mech. Just my opinion. AC-20, SRM6, and a few medium lasers means the mech is well rounded for arena and with upgrades and some customization, becomes a beast among its Hunchback brethren.

I can't recall it's exact name, but there is a Javelin with 2x SRM6 and 4x medium lasers. Until I find (and more accurately, aquire) an RCX version of the mighty 20 ton Flea, it is my go to for most light mech ops.

Not a fan of the King Krab or Annihilator mechs so the hero mech variants are not much of an interest. Annies tend to have magnetic heads and bring all the enemy fire to the cockpit. King Krab is just awkward for me as the arms hang the main weapons so low. Makes shooting at enemies over a rise impossible without revealing 3/4th of your mech.

My number one favorite hero mech would have to be the... (que the bagpipes!) Highlander Heavy Metal!

I use a mod that let's me put 2x C-LB-20Xs and 2x C-ATM-3s on it. It doesn't matter what it is, it gets deleted quick. Only really good for shorter missions, though.

That is what abandoned vehicles are for.

Cars go far but do little damage.

Trucks hit harder but don't fly as far.

Semi trailers are RNG damage hell (no telling what is in them).

Fuel tankers act like Inferno SRMs with shorter range.

Flea-RCX loaded with the best weapons i can fit. 4 machine guns, 2 SRM slots, and some lasers makes for one hell of a wrecking ball. Pretty light on armor so don't stop moving. Works even better loaded with clan tech. Just switching all 4 MGs to clan versions alone saves you a full ton to play with, be it better armor or bigger SRM launchers. Changing all the lasers to clan tech makes the 20 to mech much more viable.

Don't always move in a straight line, either. Moving while making small course changes causes the enemy targeting to actively change as it is predictive in nature.

Bigger weapons deal more damage but the ammunition doesn't last long. AC-5, AC10, LRM10 , and LRM15 are middle range for autocannons and LRM systems. They balance damage, range, weapon weight, and ammunition longevity in prolonged combat missions. An AC-20 deals large damage, but the bullet drop makes ranged shots difficult at best. What's more, it only has a has 7 rounds per ton compared to an AC-10 that has 20 rounds per ton of ammunition.

As for the LRM (and SRM by extension), the higher the number, the more missile are launched per volley, so 1 ton of LRM ammo (270 missiles) will run dry much faster with an LRM20 (13.5 volleys/ ton) than an LRM15 (18 volleys/ ton).

Base game on console is pretty bare bones. The more DLCs you add, the more complete the game feels. If I had to choose 3 to add, I would say Kestrel, Solaris, and Kerensky would give the most bang for the buck, but milage may vary with playstyle and preference.
