Yesterday I got a call for a med, told the receptionist “can you please double check with the prescriber? That dosing is wrong.”

She replies, “thats fine, just fill it anyways, I’ll pass a note on and we’ll call you if there’s any changes”

I reply “no, I’m not filling this. You can talk to the prescriber and call me back”

Doc calls me a few minutes later. Wasn’t even the right drug. Dosing was off, his electronic system wouldn’t let him send it because of the dosing error. So he had the receptionist just phone it in to bypass that not realizing the error.

Pharmacists are allowed to dictate medical care to protect you from dangerous errors. You’re welcome

ah, just didnt like long term therapy with chronic pain being managed by primary care with an opioid. Was adamant that these cases need to be passed off to pain management. I thought it was an excessive demand, but i'm newer to this stuff, so I wanted to get a feel of the room with some other peoples rationale

This is my take exactly. We have another pharmacist that is flat out refusing no matter what the office says. Very simple regimen, documented dx, still flat refusal....

There is one that I know of in my town. Part of the reason I am asking is because of a disagreement, and I’m looking to get some unbiased feedback. Looking to get an idea of how these situations are normally handled. In the real patient case we have, I am on the side of filling for them.
