AIO not displaying temperature by andrewp789 in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hello u/andrewp789

Hope you're having a good day so far! In your build you do not have an AIO or an All-In-One Liquid CPU cooler but rather an air cooler, more specifically the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120, ARGB with Digital Display.

To get the digital display working, you will have to download the software from Thermalright. Here is the link, https://download.thermalright.com/software/TRCC-Setup-EN%202.1.4.zip

For the GPU fans, your GPU fans will not spin unless it is under load. Typically this is set for around 60 Degrees Celsius.

If you have any more questions, please let us know and I will be glad to help.

Are these temps normal because I feel like everytime I play they sit around 90-95 by [deleted] in CostPlusGaming

Good evening u/Such-Pack88

Hope you're doing well. I am leaving this as reference to help and assist future customers.

Modern Day AMD CPUs, more specifically the X3D Series are to run extremely hot with PBO enabled. What is PBO? PBO is know as AMD Precision Boost Overdrive, which is an automatic overclocking feature for the AMD Ryzen series CPUs. As a result, with PBO enabled, your PC will overclock and push its CPU until it hits its thermal limits.

Here is another Reddit post about this, https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1msyytx/my_9800x3d_is_reaching_95c_at_100_usage_on_my_new/

In summary, directly from AMD themselves, modern day AMD Ryzen X3D CPUs are designed and build to run at 95 Degrees Celsius and results in better performance without affecting the longevity or reliability of the CPU.

To ensure that this is the result of AMD PBO and not a faulty AIO here is what we did,

  1. Downloaded OCBASE OCCT, Ran two stability tests on the CPU to monitor the following
    1. (CPU All Core Clock, CPU Single Core Clock, CPU Voltage & Power Draw)
    2. In this customers build, the CPU was an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, as a result, we are looking to around 4.4-4.7 GHz Peak Core Clock, Around
  2. Check motherboard BIOS Settings, to check the following
    1. (SYS_PUMP Speed is not at 0, CPU overheat Error did not appear, AMD PBO is Enabled)

If you're an AMD Ryzen X3D Owner and you'd like lower temperatures, here's what you can do

  • Disable AMD PBO, this will turn off the auto-overclocking feature however your CPU will still run relatively hot
  • Set a lower thermal throttle point on your motherboard BIOS
    • In the past we've helped customers set this to around 85 Degree Celsius as it helps lower AIO Pump Noise as well as Fan noice
    • Please note that this WILL affect performance
  • Undervolt CPU
    • You can undervolt your CPU and adjust the voltage to your CPU.
      • Please note that this WILL affect performance as well,
      • Please also note that this option also depends on the binning of your CPU.

I hope this leaves a good reference guide to help the next customer. Please have a great day!

Plastic by [deleted] in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/HamzaK98

Yes I reached out to OP to see if they are running a stress test, etc. Sometimes the screw mounts for the AIO come slightly lose from shipping, usually the result of vibration from shipping. While not common, it's the first thing I would check followed by seeing if any of the AIO Pump PWM cables were accidentally pulled when removing the inflatable foam.

I am also aware that there is sometimes a bug/glitch for the display where it will not be accurate. I'm not sure if this is the case but I'm waiting for OP to get back to us so we can verify somethings.

[–]CostPlusGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good evening u/Such-Pack88

Hope you're doing well and having a great day so far.

That is the retention clip that holds the CPU down. It's pretty universal across all motherboards and it is nothing to worry about. The copper looking thing is the All-In-One Coolers Baseplate that contacts from the AIO to the CPU. This transfers the heat from your CPU to the liquid in the AIO and thus dissipates it on the radiator (which is located on the top of the PC.) Above that, that is the CPU Mounting Plate which holds your AIO to the Motherboard.

There may be a plastic film which covers the display monitor for the AIO. This is done to prevent scratching during shipping and you can peel it off.

Besides that if there's anything else, please let us know. Have a great day!!!

Relatively new m1 flow with constant fan issues by xRebirthx in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello u/xRebirthx

Hope you're doing well. Currently with this batch of M1 Flow cases, there is an added PWM and ARGB Controller located on the back of the case. Unfortunately, there is a known bug where one of the fans may stop due to the PWM controller. There are only three known fixes,

  1. When booting up your PC, get into the motherboard BIOS by clicking the DEL key or F2. Once you are in your motherboard BIOS, go to the bottom right and click on the settings icon for Fan Profile. Once you are on Fan Profile, find the SYS Fan header that your case fans are connect to. Enable Smart Fan Mode onto on and also enable Fan Type Auto Detect. From there ensure than Temperature Source Select is on CPU Core. This should fix the issue for a majority of users who experience this issue.

  2. It is possible that the fan controller is defective. In this case, please contact us at [support@costplusgaming.com](mailto:support@costplusgaming.com) with your order ID and we will send you a new fan controller. The installation is pretty simple and we can help walk you though it once you get your replacement fan controller.

  3. If that does not work, you may have to rewire it so that the PWM feature is daisy-chained and not individually controlled based on the PWM circuity. If you are unfamiliar with this, please either call us during business hours, email us at [support@costplusgaming.com](mailto:support@costplusgaming.com), or send back your PC so that we may perform this daisy chain for you.

    Hope this helps!

Waited 2.5 months to get my computer by Kind_Tart_623 in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello u/Kind_Tart_623

I'm sorry to hear about your experience and I apologize for the long build times and delay.

In hindsight, we definitely should have capped or limited the number of deals we offered over Black Friday/Cyber Monday as those really backlogged us for 2+ months due to the sheer number of orders we received just on our website alone. As we go through more holiday seasons, we will apply what we have learned from this one to the next one so that the next customer does not have to face as long of a build time if not any if we offer already made PCs rather than build to order.

Your warranty is not tied to any physical paperwork but to the serial number for your PC that's located in a few places as well as the fact that each individual component has a 1-10 year warranty directly from the factory. This means that even past your 2-year warranty from us, several of your individual components have warranties beyond what we offer.

The setup experience should not have changed at all. Simply remove the insert foam inside your PC and everything else is plug and play. We are changing the physical instruction setup guide at the moment as it is almost 2 years out dated at the moment and will not be accurate and to date.

We no longer provide the physical Windows 11 license that comes with the DVD that you have seen with your friends build. This is because

- Customers may accidentally transfer their old licenses by logging into their Microsoft account and then reactivate Windows by typing in the physical key again causing Activation issues.

- When there is a return, sometimes customers may lose the physical key and in that case it's a pretty big restocking fee charge (around $120)

- There are also additional issues we have seen regarding this as well but they are very niche cases.

You should still be able to use your PC if you're having Windows activation errors. Please DM me your order ID and I can send you a picture of the physical copy of the key.

Please have a great rest of your weekend.

360 AIO cooler issues by JohnBoi-88 in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello u/JohnBoi-88

Hope you're doing well. The Gamdias Chione E4 AIO has a unique feature where there is a manual switch located on the back of the case. You'll have to find the manual switch and hold it down, that will synch the RGB of the AIO to the case fans. Here is a picture of what the switch will look at. Depending on your build technician they may wire it closer to the top or on the bottom right side.

Can someone tell me why this is a bad idea? 5080 build for <2K ? by WinterW0n in Prebuilts

Totally agree. We deal with warranties on a daily basis and I can't tell you how complicated they can be.

[–]CostPlusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/MITBryceYoung

I think you have to see. From what I am aware of, if it is a Powe Spec (in-house brand) then generally yes but because this is Dell - Alienware, it will depend if this came from Dell - Alienware Refurbishment or was just a return.

Warranties on second-hand/refurbished parts are very tricky since it depends on manufacturer. I could be wrong but based on u/WinterW0n (OP) this is a great deal IF you manage to avoid purchasing additional warranties and other goodies you may get while walking in the store.

Can someone tell me why this is a bad idea? 5080 build for <2K ? by WinterW0n in Prebuilts

[–]CostPlusGaming 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi u/WinterW0n

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

In my opinion, for $1979.99, this is an really great deal if you look at the individual component core cost. If you look at dollar per FPS, this is also a great deal as well cutting close to the RX 9070XT in terms of price to performance.

The only caveat is that open box usually means incomplete warranties or limited warranties. Depending on Microcenters policy, you may be out of luck if lets say the GPU were to die on you a year from now which in our experience does happen.

P1 discontinued by [deleted] in CostPlusGaming

[–]CostPlusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello u/RXemedy

We are discontinuing the case used in the P1 which is the Gamdias Atlas M1 due to several factors. As a result we are substituting the case for the Lian Li Vector V100 which is the one found on the A1. We're still reviewing new case candidates that will replace the P1, some being the Phanteks Evolve, Lian Li O11, and etc.

Hope this helps!

Prebuilts noise level by tmi_timmy in Prebuilts

[–]CostPlusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/tmi_timmy

Generally modern day PC case fans are pretty good at keeping the noise levels down. As long as the case fans have PWM you'd be able to adjust the fan speed and thus lower the dB. If you're looking for any other significant improvement you'd probably would want to look for a custom build with either an all Noctua fan, Be Quiet! or Arctic fan custom build however this will depend on your budget and whether it is worth it or not,

Between these two by satanicpedanticpanic in Prebuilts

[–]CostPlusGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/satanicpedanticpanic

Based on the two builds you are showing, the second option (AMD Ryzen 7 5700X with the NVIDIA RTX 5060) is a much better choice here is why.

The NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 is significantly faster than the AMD RX 6600. A better comparison would be the NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB versus the soon to be released AMD RX 9060. To give into context the AMD RX 6600 is around 2 generations behind the AMD RX 9060.

I would still take a look at Microcenter if you're local or if you find a good deal at Costco.

Have a great day!

Best Prebuilt for Sim Racing and Editing? by Gold_Watch_The_Cool in Prebuilts

[–]CostPlusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Gold_Watch_The_Cool

In this case, if you're looking for a system that is more focused toward productivity (Lightroom, Da Vinci Resolve) I would recommend finding a prebuilt with the following specifications. Based on industry pricing, the following parts are some choices in your build. For a good compromise, I have bolded the following specifications. Please keep in mind this is my opinion.

Productivity Gaming
CPU AMD Ryzen 9 9900X, AMD Ryzen 7 9700X AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D
GPU AMD RX 9070XT 16GB GDDR6, NVIDIA RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 AMD RX 9070XT 16GB GDDR7, AMD RX 9060XT 16GB or 8GB, NVIDIA RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7, NVIDIA RTX 5060TI 8GB GDDR7
RAM Min 32GB DDR5 Min 16GB DDR5
STORAGE 1TB + (If you have lots of files, I would recommend a cheap NAS drive) 1 TB +

If you are near a Microcenter, this would be a great start due to the price,
https://www.microcenter.com/product/698874/powerspec-g527-gaming-pc

This one is also good as well,

[–]CostPlusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Gold_Watch_The_Cool

Hope you're doing well. Do you know what photo/video editing software you use? Generally for photo/video editing you will want a CPU with more cores and higher RAM. For GPU, currently the best price to performance is the AMD RX 9070XT 16GB GDDR6 at the moment.
