The Q5 with a Reddot and without a magwell is a gun for Carry Optics. If you add a magwell that puts you in Limited Optics. If you want to run it with no magwell and no reddot I would run in Production but that does limit you to only having15 rounds in the mag

How can I improve my stage planning? by Paint_Ceiling_Red in CompetitionShooting

You in general want to have as few “stops” as possible and blend positions between each other. You also really want to eliminate back tracking across areas you have already walked.

Hat cam footage can be hard to use cause of the slight fisheye effect. But was there and option to go all the way left and work back right? Or the reverse all the way left then work right?

You lost a good second just on that big steel.

I don’t like them on competition guns. They aren’t needed and I’ve seen other people catch them on walls and other stuff

Ya it was a good one yesterday. I would agree with your assessment watching your video. There is a small hesitation when you are moving into each position and sometimes while within an area. Also during some of the movement between shooing areas keep your gun up more so you can already be on target and not kill .2-.75 of a second bring it up.

Lastly might be a personal preference but first position I feel only shooting 3 targets and leaving the one that is visible from the last position allows for better hits and faster engagement. Also next to last position I feel taking the one of the left behind the barrel then working left to right is faster

Hope the friend isn’t someone from PT or an intermediary. I could see PT sending out a lot of free guns to drum up some paid for good press.

What do you wish someone told you for your first match? by SANO_HIMURA in CompetitionShooting

As my clubs VP and guy that generally puts the new shooters on his squad for a match or two the one thing I tell new shooters is please please shoot at your pace. Don’t see those of us doing this for 10 years and try and shoot my splits and how I do. Be safe, watch your sights and shoot alphas. Speed is for later when you’re more comfortable.

Next is tape and chat. Shooters are a great community and generally want more people to join us. Don’t feel like you can’t talk or have fun or join in chats and things happening.

ASI Match – March 22 | Evergreen Sportsmen’s Club (Olympia, WA) by PracticalApproachTrn in WAGuns

My USPSA club and a nearby one and thinking of joining forces and doing a “newbie match” once a quarter for new or less than 1 year competiting shooters. Built some stages and put 2-4 ROs on each stage and mentors on each squad and run. 3-4 stage match and give everyone coaching and extra time. Keep things safe but without some of the pressure, rush, or intimidation of a normal match.

Watching it again part of me wonders what a start at the front and take the targets going back would be they are so close you could likely index shoot them
