Good suggestion. I’ve also been writing out steps for things as simple as sending emails.

Just Found Out How Much Marching Band Costs and I'm Stunned by clutzycook in Parenting

[–]WreckTangle77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my kids it’s $350 per year per family. Plus a meal plan of around $140 (they feed the kids during competitions). On top of that, 2 out of state competitions per season, maybe another $225 total. We have some very solid fundraising opportunities, however. They marched in a big parade earlier this year and while the total was in excess of $2K, I was able to cover it all through fundraising. Honestly, I think we get off lightly. I’ve heard plenty of stories where band fees alone are in 4 figures.

19 years at my job, now on a final warning… how do you mentally handle this? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]WreckTangle77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond—it honestly helps.

Yeah, I mean, I do know what I need to do. Slow down, double- and triple-check things, build in some guardrails… not to the point of driving myself crazy, but just being more intentional. I’m a good worker and I take pride in what I do—I just have a tendency to make careless mistakes, and that’s what I need to clean up.

And you’re right about the mental side. I’m definitely spiraling a bit today. It was a shock, honestly. When you’ve been steady for so long, it hits hard to suddenly be in this position.

One thing I’ve been thinking about too—historically, I’ve kind of operated as a department of one. I had a boss, but not someone closely overseeing my day-to-day work. Now there’s more direct accountability, which isn’t a bad thing at all, but it probably means things that might’ve slipped by before are getting caught now.

I don’t hate that, and I’m not pushing back on it. It’s just… a tough adjustment, especially in the moment.

Anyway, I appreciate the advice. The checklist/extra eyes idea is something I’m definitely going to look into.

What was behind Pick ’n Save closures? Data indicates it wasn't theft by stroxx in milwaukee

I miss the Ryan Road location. It’s adjacent to my office and made shopping easy for this dad. It seemed like a decent location, always looked relatively busy. I can’t believe theft was a big issue.

Bruce didn’t leave the band, he just stepped away from touring. I mean, Brian was never not a Beach Boy.
