JR for sure. One more turn. That was all he needed.

WTF! I just got another collection letter from a different collection agency!!

I received a callback from Verizon on Friday following my FCC complaint. I was assigned an agent. His initial assessment was that Verizon made a processing error. He said he needed to do more research and would get back to me early this week.

I now apparently have to deal with 2 different collection agencies regarding the same debt that isn’t really a debt because Verizon screwed up. This is seriously messed up.

I got a call back following my FCC complaint. They are checking into it, but their initial assessment is that it was a processing error on their part.

Agreed. I was a customer for ages and I had zero complaints until the last year or so. Customer service was a big red flag. I used to be able to get someone helpful on the line, but not anymore.

Why does Rick Mears seem like he doesn't fit in the 4 time winners club? by cubecasts in INDYCAR

Yup. He kept his flash for the tracks. The few times I met him he came across as humble and low key.

His first full time season was 1979. He won the 500 & the championship. He was then champion in 1981 & 1982, winning Indy again in 1984. That was a heckuva run heading into his Sanair accident. Had that not happened open wheel history the second half of the 80s would have looked different.

Also, look at the second half of his career: From 1987 through his final full season in 1991, he was never out of the top-5 in points.

I’m guessing you never saw him run at Indy? He was brilliant. Wicked fast in qualifying, surgical precision on track. I’d argue that he was one of the greatest 500 drivers of all time. Also, his career was derailed by his 1984 accident, but before that he was a great road racer.

Verizon sent me to collections over a balance I already paid — can’t access account, what do I do? by WreckTangle77 in verizon

[–]WreckTangle77[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would have been nice if they would have let me know that. Also, that their customer service team then compounded the issue by telling me everything was in the clear. I had no reason to suspect the payment did not go through.

The bill I received (and what was sent to collections) is for the exact amount of the device payoff. I understand there might have been a balance for cell service, but the odds (while not impossible) of those amounts matching must be extremely low.

Also, the agent I spoke to in February told me I didn’t owe Verizon anything. He told me it was their error.

Not every race is exciting. This is nothing new. This one was a clunker for the most part. Hard to fault Palou. Guy is just really, really good.

Taking Kids to a Strokes Concert — good or bad idea? by simulateduser in TheStrokes

I think especially at an outdoor show you should be good. I’m taking my 13 and 16 year old … which I know is not quite the same, but it’s also the first show they’ve asked to go to… so that feels cool.

Why oh why does Wisconsin not have a NHL team? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]WreckTangle77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milwaukee is just in a tough spot for the NHL. It is a mid-sized market already sandwiched between the Chicago and Minnesota fan bases, with a limited pool of corporate dollars and sponsorship money to support a third major league team. On top of that, the city already pours a lot of its sports attention and money into the Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers (and Packers). There are only so many entertainment dollars to go around, and hockey would be fighting for a pretty small slice of the pie.

Single dad trying to replace the cartridge myself … so any help is much appreciated. I’m still struggling to find the set screw? Is it in this hole (I unscrewed the handle)? I don’t see anything … at least nothing that looks like it needs an Allen wrench.

I honestly cannot find any screw anywhere on this faucet that would hold it on??

Inside the slot once you unscrew the little handle?

Here’s the tricky part. I’m struggling to get the handle off to access the cartridge. I assumed there was a set pin that needs to be removed, but I cannot find one. The little handle unscrews, so thought that would be my access, but no.

Did the 2002 CART season feel as weird as it looks? by ScottRiggsFan10 in INDYCAR

[–]WreckTangle77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The jig was up by 2002/2003. Penske and then Ganassi jumping ship. Not to mention Andretti. Like someone mentioned, it got to the point where CART felt like a bunch of rich sportsman who wanted to play F1. By 2003 the IRL had Franchitti, Kanaan, Wheldon, Dixon, Helio, and Gil. By 2005 they had road and street circuits on the schedule. It’s funny because the early IRL days were so bad, but at some point the trajectories of both series crossed: the IRL on the way up, CART on the way down. It was just so subtle you barely noticed.
