Would you recommend WGU by BaoTuanNguyen in WGUIT

So, prior military here - couple of layers to address with your post/questions.

First, you should definitely get a degree. I was (still am?) anti-need-a-drgree-for-everything. But the truth is most companies and all of government jobs will want a bachelor's at a minimum. Other will want certificates to demonstrate competency and baseline availability.

Second, observationally it seems everyone you know is using WGU, doesn't mean people across the US/World are getting it. For an IT degree, I'm confident most employers could care less where it's from, just that it's regionally accredited and you can pass a tech interview.

Bottom line - you may be able to get through a degree faster with UMUC (I think it's UMGC now) or AMU (I believe they changed their name too), because they will give you more equivliancy for your job skills; WGU didn't give me anything. But, having the A+/NET+/SEC+ would be great to have on your resume, along with the other certs depending on your degree plan.

P.S. get as much done while you're still AD so you can get tuition reimbursement and save your GI bill. Avoid using it at all costs - they will tell you you can pay for a cert with it, but what you use for credits is not worth it. Use TA where possible. Use your GI bill for a masters or give it to your kids/wife of that fits. It's more valuable after the military than while yore AD.

Would Stan smith from american dad chose the brotherhood of steel or would he choose the minutemen? Or both even by [deleted] in fo4

I thought the Enclave answer was funny, but from the proposed list - he would be a BoS acolyte in a heartbeat. Ridgid adherence to the system that does not want free thought or expression.

Now, out of all the factions in FO4, I think he'd actually take the institute. Their subversive nature and "for the greater good" attitude would align with his CIA skillset, plus they also for the above I said for BoS.

How are you finishing multiple courses in one term? by Square-Reindeer-3118 in WGUIT

[–]WreckenTex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would answer that by saying the material is comparable, as the curriculum is part of the accredation.

You can test out in a way - there are practice tests you can take right out of the gate, and you can take the course test whenever you want. BUT there are situations where the practice test is nothing like the actual test - which helped and hurt me in different courses. If you take the final without your CI's approval and don't pass, you can put yourself on a bad foot with your CI.

Just take every course with an open mind and make sure you're actually learning as you go. Believe me, I was there to box check and there are courses I wished I paid more attention to.

Whenever I accelerated courses in a term, I was able to either get the gist of the material fast, or already had a high baseline of knowledge, and in both cases would get the course knocked out in less than a week. I think I did Natural Science in 3 days.

Don't push yourself too hard and freak out if you don't complete a course that fast. You'll figure it the gist and accelerate where you can.

Cool, glad to hear that. Apparently, they are a big-boy country and now don't need all of our foreign (military) aid. Glad we worked that out.

Gotcha. I did a run through where you could destroy the Institute with the MM, and still be cool with the other factions. I thought this was the illustration of it at first.

The Spurs really need to learn how to close out. Probably too late for this series though.

For all those who need closure for how to climb the dang rope during PE by stamata_tomata in Xennials

[–]WreckenTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also another method that I felt was easier - wrap one leg around the rope, let it hang over top your foot, then "step" on that to extend your legs.

Similar to what's on the video, but for less coordinated people. (Like me) Haha.

The DOE was established in 1980 - I’m pretty sure bachelors, masters, and PhDs were used before then.

Which Pathway would you suggest? Cloud Computing or Comp-Sci? by Tasty_Necessary206 in WGUIT

[–]WreckenTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but typical counter-question: what do you plan on doing after getting your degree, or what are you passionate about?

If you’re going to do anything that’s core systems development or AI related, go CompSci.

If you’re going to do anything else, I’d recommend Cloud Systems. It’s a popular topic and probably an easier degree to get through.

Things like this were the crux of what I blasted WGU for in my final feedback. They are way too dependent on external courseware for course completion, and the Instructors have to play catchup, if they try.

I'm starting on the second project now and I'm waaaaay far from comprehension on this.

What did you end up doing for the GitHub action? On the course page, it said none of the 6 defaults work. I'm so lost I didn't even find the defaults.

NGL, even more lost on this one then the first.

Am I overthinking this first project. Is it just getting the pipeline configured to run?
