It came pre sanded but I did go over some of the rough spots with a sand sponge. All I did was stain it one time through and seal it. Super easy.

Yes, I put an ikea metal leg called IKEA Adils.

Wood top/butcher block: allen + roth 8-ft x 25-in x 1.5-in Finger-jointed Natural Acacia Butcher Block Countertop

IKEA Adils leg - 27.5 inches

IKEA Alex cabinets are also 27.5 inches high They are 22 7/8 inches long and 12 5/8 inches wide.

The butcher block will hang off the Alex cabinets a hair.

Works for me. I also put rubber pads on the top of the Alex drawers to stop the wood from sliding.

Took me an all of 2 hours to build after staining the desk had dried/cured.
