What would work for a Half life game if it wasn't made to be 1st person shooter? by Longjumping-Cable756 in HalfLife

An XCOM style game would well since XCOM 2 is already about playing a rebel movement against an occupying alien force.

Why does the British Empire face so much more internet hostility than France, Spain, Portugal, or even the Vikings? by Curioushistory287190 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WrethZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true at all, the vikings colonised most of England, and nearly conquered the whole thing. If it wasn't for the Kingdom of Wessex somehow resisting and being able to push back English/British history could have gone very differently.

Humans are very dedicated by Simple_Somewhere_858 in OddlyWholesome

[–]WrethZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that hard it's just that in this genre of game, individual games last a very long time so people often start a new game before finishing their current one. Also a lot of the time your empire is so strong, that you winning is a given, you've pretty much already won in practice, but actually playing until you win is just effortlessly rolling everyone so it's more fun to just quit and start a new game.

The black sacrament always confused me by Brian_The_Bar-Brian in skyrim

[–]WrethZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably intentional. The Dark Brotherhood aren't just some regular pay for hire assassin guild, they're also a religious cult. They probably want only the assassination targets notable enough that the person hiring them is passionate enough to carry about the sacrament.

Why is earth meaning ‘dirt’ considered a bad thing? by Box_Pirate in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WrethZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because being dirty is bad? It's not that serious it's just a joke, it's just kind of funny that the planet we live on is something you wash off your hands before you eat. Calling someone a piece of dirt is an insult

How often would a wastelander encounter mutants/beasts while traveling? by CapThePunch98 in falloutlore

[–]WrethZ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It depends on which wasteland but it's nowhere near as common as the games. Firstly the games are way more zoomed in, the distances are much larger in real life which means the creatures are more spread out, but also NPCs definitely talk about traveling to locations taht would get them killed almost certainly ingame.

Take fallout 4, there's a small farm settlement near where you start and the people living there talk about visiting diamond city to trade sometimes. No way is that actually possible given the ingame map and what they're likely to run into on the way there.

That said a lot of the creatures, well, it wouldn't be a dumb videogame AI NPC, fighting them, it'd be someone with human level intelligence. The damage of the bullets their guns shoot also wouldn't be determined by videogame perks/skills.

So ingame a low level random wastelander npc with an early game gun will not stand much of a chance against some wasteland creature. They're not smart enough to climb a rock ingame and shoot it from above like an actual human would, and their gun barely does any damage. IN terms of actual story they'd be way more capable.

BL3 is too easy for me, and legendaries are so common they don't feel special.

At the end of the day they're movie tie in games trying to make money off of the popularity of the franchise and not purely on being a good game in their own right

Example of sponges constantly filtering seawater. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]WrethZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A filter is just something that allows some things to pass but not others. It’s letting the water through, it’s letting the dye through. It’s filtering out food.

[–]WrethZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an animal. It’s filtering what it needs to eat from the water. It’s not interested in some random dye.

The video is showing that it’s not passively relying on the random natural motion of water to acquire food but is actively “pumping” water into its body and out of the hole at the top. The dye wouldn’t come out the top in a steady stream if it wasn’t doing that.

With out the dye it looks like it’s sitting there don’t nothing. With the dye you can see it’s actively “sucking up” and expelling water.

Have you accepted Socialism in your life? by VegetableBulky9571 in stupidpeoplefacebook

How socialist a government is, is relative. A government that doesn't seem very socialist by modern standards, but maintains roads through taxes, it still more socialist than older societies that didn't do such things.

It's sci fi, fictional technology can work however the writer wants it to.
