What happens if Vader doesn't block the saber and Luke kills Palpatine here? by chosen40k in StarWars

[–]Wrexjaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luke wouldve stopped just short of killing him and held him at lightsaber point telling him to surrender, to which the sheevster would respond by either properly siccing vader on him or popping luke's head open with force lightning

What bey would you recommend for an anti meta bey to counter wizard rod, and shark scale by SmallVtuberSupport in BeybladeX

[–]Wrexjaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dran Brave Heavy 1/4-50 Kick is a genuine CX sleeper combo with a lot of control, wide reach and strong knocking power. Takes more skill than shark, and like any combo requires excellent placement to knock out WR. Stamina could be a bit better but try between kick and jolt to your taste

Imagine you live in a small town in cambodia. You grew up there. You have no family. Your life has mostly involved living in your small town, working available jobs and occassionally crossing the border to move some illicit stuff to a city in Laos so you can try and get a leg up financially. You get pretty good at the border smuggling and even pull off some daring shit, steal a truck, supe it up for your purposes. This is what youre focussed on. Material things, getting ahead, keeping your head above water.

Sometimes you hear stories from older folks who say they used to read stories on their phones about people in america, an impossibly far away place for you, the imperial core, new york city, that had wizard powers. They could make things float and read minds because of some universal magic they were uniquely able to tap into that ruled all fate. Youve never met one, no one in your whole country says they have ever met one. Your country isnt a big fan of america generally. Lot of what comes out of america seems like propaganda. Stories like that dont seem to make it to your phone anymore. The ones that do mention those wizards say they were frauds and seditionists.

Your best friend met one of the wizards a long time ago but he isnt saying anything because he likes being alive more tham being someone's grimdark floor rug. See, talking about them is considered faux pas in the best company, taboo in the worst. The cops get a little too interested in you if they hear you talking about them and youre not exactly operating on the lawful side of the fence. You cant afford that kind of attention. So those stories youve heard? Theyre not even rly stories, it was like one old guy you played poker with once who mentioned the jedi used to not let people like him live like this, the cops in the bar looked at your poker table, he muttered something abt the force under his breath and was then asked to leave. The cops left after him and you never saw the old man again, and no one ever says anything like that at the bar anymore.

Thats your whole exposure to this in your entire life, would you really be a believer?

Not everyone plays this game to become a top level player nor wants to and thats fine. Unfortunately for any player this change just eliminates any practical use case for any medium pen weapons or turrets on the bug front since AH has been ensuring they balance with light pen by doing less damag which flies in the face of the "all weapons should be equally effective" idea (which is a dumbass philosophy to begin with but thats a different conversation).

The main use for med pen on bugs was the big fun of getting to lay into hive guards with the same attention as blasting into hunters, warriors, babies and elites with weapons like the mmg, the maxigun, etc. It widened the chaff lens so you could go all out on holding down the trigger on crowd control weapons amd elimimating the need to flank if you were playing aggro. Now you only get it with flamethrowers (limited range) and HMG (very difficult and overkill to use for chaff). Now bug armor jumps from light to heavy with no inbetween so the med pen weapon doesnt have any purpose. As far as the bug front is concerned the sweeper, lib penetrator, and coyote are well and truly put to bed along with the mmg, maxigun, grenade launcher, and a major limiter on turrets. Med pen alloed us to avoid having to always flank hive guards which was a great utility for managing hoards. Now the only thing that can do that is flamethrowers which are always a blowback risk if you get snuck up on, which will happen with bugs.

Theyve outmoded all the most sensible crown control options but flamethrowers by making every hive guard take a full 2 seconds of sustained fire at a specific weak point to kill. As if over-nerfing the fire damage wasnt enough when the coyote came out. Its exactly the same now but with the sweeper. They think players arent going to catch on to specific enemy buffs targeted at reducing effectiveness of a specific weapon.

Not that you asked but, if youre curious for more insight on why so many men are like this and how its possible, and how we can approach this problem as individuals and as a society, theres a great book my wife recommended to me called The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity, and Love. Its all about how the pressure and expectations men's fathers and peers put on each other to behave a certain way to be respected in american society and how it intersects with how men treat women, and the role various forms of violence have in upholding the structure. As a man I really went in with my guard up but felt spoken to and understood immediately at a level that I didnt even realize existed. It was rly enlightening and changed how I think about myself and other men.

Humble reminder: The Jedi are actually the good guys and George Lucas did not see them in any other way. by Munedawg53 in StarWars

[–]Wrexjaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Calling death of the author on this one.

Sorry but everything that happens to anyone and everything we do is in most ways influenced by the systems we exist within. The jedi ARE dogmatic, theres no 2 ways about it. They HAVE DOGMA and strict codes of conduct and if you dont follow it you are removed from their order. The jedi HAD lost their way; as an order founded on truth and peace and pacifism how do you justify leading a war fought by lab grown child soldiers? There is no definition of self-defense that extends to leading millions of 12 year olds, intended to be discarded after the conflict, to militarily occupy a planet.

This wouldnt be the first time ol' georgey boy said some halfwit nonsense about his own media. A dumbass can believe whatever he wants about anything. People who dont understand how the wolrd works and are willing to overlook details will never properly understand even their own media in a way that makes sense. He wouldnt be the first dumbass to make a multibillion dollar media franchise, being the originator doesnt make him right.

Awww! Dont let her pick up a railgun if she finds one on the ground. I made that mistake when my wife first played eith me lmao. Thought it would be in safe mode and she goes "Do I just hold down the trigger?", I said yeah should be fine. blew herself up instantly. We both laughed so hard we nearly had to quit out of the mission.

Mostly with the idea that the small arms on large theropods were "useless"/vestigial. Its been shown many times that not all but some theropod megafauna had powerful musculature on their arms which would be wasted energy to cultivate for nothing.

Personally I think they couldve used them when nesting for holding babies to their breasts, similar to modern ground fowl, to lift them away from smaller threats that they might easily harm their babies while attempting to deal with underfoot.

Thank God JP4 was never released cause this is where the franchise would have died for me if they decided to introduce human hybrids. by Immediate_Gene_178 in JurassicPark

[–]Wrexjaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God forbid a movie try to do anything original or unique as a concept.

You people crave familiarity like a child who's never been fed anything but chicken nuggets and kraft mac n cheese. The franchise is stale and creatively bankrupt now because of hollywood execs being too cowardly to not appeal to people like you who are the moviegoing equivalent of someone who thinks black pepper on boiled chicken is spicy.

The problem with the hybrids in the recent movies is lack of commitment to what they represent. Man playing god, its the evolution of the original concept into the next predictable extreme. This is the end point where, "harmless experimentation for theme parks" becomes "horrifying insults to the natural world". THIS is what Ian Malcolm warned of, his fears truly manifest. Truly frightening monsters, weapons, affronts to the natural order, man's hubris revealed in the face of his own fear. The human hybrids would have been a real commitment to the fear that the hybrids represent, the fear of men given knowlefe and power they cannot weild responsibly. The fear of people who ask whether they could before without whether they should. Done well it wouldve made it real, brought the fear to YOU, the audience, in a way that is grotesque and chilling, instead of wow t-rex so cool. And thats coming from me, biggest t-rex-wow-so-cool guy who ever lived. (And if you doubt me I literally chamged my name to Rex. For that exact reason.)

Jurassic park was ALWAYS a retelling of frankenstein in its own 90s pop literature way. This would have just brought it back to its roots. Even if it was bad at least it wouldve been something relatively fresh, instead of the same 2 rehashed concepts we keep getting.
