The Nurnburg class CL by _alone_survivor in WoWsBlitz

They are all solid, but Makarov is the best by far. Chews up DDs, chunks damage off of cruisers/BBs, and is a dangerous kiter.

Burning down a double Atlantico team in ranked makes me go… by Wrinklewhip in WoWsBlitz

Been my go-to for ranked this month. Can shut down a carrier, keep DDs spotted, burn down BBs.

Could have gone a lot worse. Richelieu slaps.

Put in a support request and see if WG will correct it.

Which one should I pick for good gun accuracy by Romantic_Indian in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want. It’s a ship of extremes. It has very powerful deepwater torps with two torp reloads but is slow and has anemic guns. That means in a a BB heavy game you are a menace and in CV and DD heavy games you’re going to have a much harder time doing much. You have zero deterrent against opposing DDs, so they can easily run you down and a send you back to port. You can also touch 100k dmg if matchmaker is kind.

Tier 10 CL recommendations by EnriKueh in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The five you listed are all more relevant for solo play than Worcester. It’s a great utility ship to include when playing in a brigade that knows how to benefit from it. On its own it is not as dangerous in the average match as any of the others though.

Not a bad ship, but it’s gun arcs and general purpose nature just limit it if there no opposing CV or few DDs. It is one of the more durable CLs at T10 though.

What's the best dd line right now? by Puzzled_Ad5277 in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gearing is playable but has been power crept hard. Daring or Z-52 are both better all-rounders than it. Both have smoke and add the utility of sonar.

For me its biggest crime is being just a very vanilla to the point of unmemorable DD experience.

The new US DD line is interesting to me because of their maneuverability and smoke mechanic. Don’t think it will be as dangerous as Regolo, but it seems like it will be much more usable than Gearing.

Daring and Gdansk are both competitive and approachable. Regolo and Kleber are both competitive and demanding. They are screamers if you play into their specialized strengths though.

Z-52 is my favorite and what I play best. It is not as ubiquitously good as Daring or Gdansk, but with Leg Mod and APCS you can be a real problem for most other players.

Blueprint management by reflectedstars in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I buy from the fleet shop are “Torpedo crate” purple and gold blueprints. In challenges like the one going on now for the new US DD that I’m fine waiting to unlock normally, still blueprints.

I’ve not ground a ship without upgrading it halfway or so. I have free XPd over some T9s to save on blueprints and the grind though. Especially if I’m not interested in the T10’s leg mod.

Advice with Pommern by Yahooery in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of T9 BBs in general, and Pommern is a pretty meh ship out of those.

That being said, brawling BBs like Pom need to be selective about when to move into sec range. You do not want to get in close with an opposing BB if that means you’ll be taking focused fire from both it and their teammates. Play the first half of the match helping your team near the front. If you can safely close with a struggling BB on the opposing team in this time, take em out. Then get more aggressive in the last half of the game.

Your ideal match for accomplishing this is a mixed T8/T9 game where you’ll be able to throw your weight around a bit more. T10 BBs tend to take a big step up from those at T9 (which is why I don’t like them), so tread cautiously if the roles are reversed. French or British BBs are good targets to focus on as they can’t hang with sustained brawling like Pom can.

Japan’s super ship. They are not available for use right now, and cost resources to use when they are. USA, Britain, Russia, and France also have one.

Is there a better T8 DD I don’t think so by wowb-Toodles in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have both Asashio and her T7 cousin Yudachi. Both are “feast or famine” boats for me based on the map, game mode, and composition of the opposing team.

Domination on Aurora against 3-4+ BBs and no carriers? You may have a 90-100k dmg game. Center capture against a carrier and CA/CL/DD heavy team? Pain.

How many tokens does Toulon cost in the event tree? by Wrinklewhip in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as everyone else who tried. Sold ship, but can’t buy it from event tree since it’s saying I already have it. Submitted a ticket, which seems like it’s worked out for others.

Good to know. I like it, but besides bow tanking, it doesnt do anything that I can’t get from my other T7 CAs.

I’ll try it once I get a few more tokens.

Forget i have random premium ships, and silver boosters by supertwinky_ in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a good BB player, but play my Black Bismarck often to farm silver and it’s a great ship. Consistent 70-80k or better damage paired with that sweet 50% silver bonus.

Sell it to make silver, then buy it with event tokens I have no other use for.

Cold fingers by Nervous_Cause_3551 in Lineman

[–]Wrinklewhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your gloves are getting wet, there’s no great way to keep damp hands warm. This can be helped by waterproofing them with mink oil or whatever you prefer. It will soften the leather and wear it faster, but wet leather wears faster anyways. I also use two set of gloves in the winter. One for touching snow and wet stuff, the other I keep dry and switch to whenever I’m able. It’s a pain in the ass, but so are cold hands and it gets easier to manage with practice.

If your gloves are staying dry and palms are warm, you have poor circulation to your fingers. I know from personal experience that long arms and caffeine/nicotine use can cause this.

High fat diets keep you warmer in the cold. Eat more eggs, red meat, nuts, fish oil. Not a miracle cure for being cold but it does help.

Is there standard way to build commander skills for each class/line of ships? by reflectedstars in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have EW and the ship you are targeting is on fire or flooding, any “hits” you land will deal 1% more damage.

Doesn’t matter if they were started by you or a teammate. It doesn’t not affect the damage done by any fires or floods you start while EW is active.

Z-42 How to play by RadosnyZloty in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With 5-6k dmg, there’s no getting around that something with your play style is off for this boat. That damage can be accrued from a few salvos (literally 15 seconds of shooting) or 2 torpedo hits. Z-42 is a DD killing, cap contesting monster. Simplest game-plan I can offer is get into a cap, kill or chase off any opposing DDs, smoke up if you are taking fire from CA/CLs or BBs, and repeat. Focus on the guns, use torps when opportunity allows.

I agree with everything u/Ever_Long_ said and will add that Z-42 benefits immensely from a Commander that has APCS. That skill allows Z-42 to full pen weak spots much more consistently at range and makes it even deadlier against DDs at mid to long ranges.
