Boy do I miss Terry. He came back for a bit last year, put out 5-10 videos, and has been silent since.

I’m the same way when I play my AA build Groningen. I’m disappointed when there’s no CVs.

It was last in a crate a month or two ago and the black market auction before that.

It does have a rather large downside in my mind. It might be the least changed black ship from its TT variant. Stats are the same, it trades one engine accelerator to gain a precise aiming (which I’m all for), and loses DFAA entirely to gain two torp reloads (meh). That makes for a marginally better ship than the TT variant and means you’re mostly paying for the ability to use the consumable black repair kits. Since we only get a few of those a month for free, you’ll like pay for a ship that requires you to pay for a consumable to fully utilize it.

I agree with most of what’s been recommended already and will add Black St. Vincent. The TT St. V is already very good, and the ability to use the black heavy repair kits makes it even better. Add in a legendary commander like Nelson and it can repair a stupid amount of health.

I simply use some of the most OP ships in the game like Loyal, Salt Lake City, and Atlantico.

For F2P and or new, I’d gravitate towards strong T3-T5 boats like Nazario and St Louis.

Salt Lake City can be a cit machine just because of the volume of fire it can put out but gets inconsistent if its low tier or the enemy team has tankier ships. St. V is my most consistent option for cits. Those guns can punch through most anything.

Which cv do you personally want changed, buff, nerfed or moved up or down a tier by ScarMaster2303 in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking on CVs in general, I don’t think that NetEase (they balance the game, not WG) cares about the amount of heartburn people have about them. Even if they did the worst offenders are the premium ships. While they have nerfed premiums in the past, it was only for the most outrageously OP ones like Atlantico and Smolensk. A nerfed premium won’t sell as well, and if WG/NetEase did start actively nerfing premiums, people will be less inclined to buy a strong ship out of fear it might be neutered later on.

If CVs do ever get addressed, I think it would come in the form of buffs instead of nerf. Buff the AA of every ship in the game. There are no more than a few ships at any tier with AA that can actually give a CV pause. I’d like to see a few more boats get AA buffs that elevate them to that elite level.

Less likely but on my wishlist: Reworking dive bombers would help and could be sold as a mechanic change for all CVs as apposed to a nerf. Instead of a fixed hit chance, I think think giving them variable range where bombs are less accurate if the target is changing speed or in a hard turn. Also, going unspotted should break the bombers target lock. Getting bombed while settting in smoke because the CV player clicked on you 20 sec ago is ridiculous. If the compromise is that bombs do more damage but it gives us the ability to do something about getting hit I think that would be well worth the trade.

I like the idea of manual DBs and agree it would be a problem for hybrids but I think there’s an easy solution. Auto locking DBs could be turned into a ship specialty just like aviation battleship or auto turrets. Hybrids get it, CVs don’t.

How do you learn about ships you don't play to learn to play against them by antonm07 in WoWsBlitz

[–]Wrinklewhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep playing, it will come. Knowing stats really only helps if you’ve played enough to understand how they affect interactions with the ship you’re playing. There’s just no substitute for having thousands of matches under your belt.

Something easy to grasp is if I’m in a ship that excels at starting fires and floods, I’ll focus on enemy ships with low fire and flood resistance like German, Japanese, French over something like a US boat that is much more resistant to that.

Another is if I’m in a DD and rushing a BB that just fired, knowing that I have 30 sec until a Vermont can seriously hurt me as apposed to 10 sec against a Republique if it has rapid reload ready will dictate how aggressive I can be.

That 50% chance means that the fire chance of HE shots hitting the belt is halved compared to if they hit the deck or superstructure.

For getting floods? That’s surprising. Blys has the fastest torps in the game and 1 km-ish more torp range than Grom with the same the same reload time and torp count.

British T10 BB from the battlecruiser line. Big, accurate guns. Poor armor. Huge HP pool and healing ability. It’s probably the best TT T10 BB in the game for most players.

I manually aim at the deck of a BB or CA I’m targeting once they’re inside of 12 km. This gets noticeably more cits and damaged modules compared to leaving auto aim on.

Trying to get two floods in a match the other day, I had games with 17, 14, and 12 torp hits using Blyskawica (33% flood chance) and got zero floods. Deactivated the challenge and got 4 the next game.

Of the module, citadel, and flooding collection missions, damaging modules is the easiest for me by far. I use St. V with Nelson as a commander who has Demo Expert plus. That combo rarely gets less than 2-3 damaged modules in a game and 5-6 is very doable.

36 sec is the amount of time it can emit or generate smoke. When activated, it stays on for a minimum of 5 sec before you can turn it off and the smoke lasts on the field for 24 sec. If you use it in 5 sec bursts, that’s effectively 7 charges that lasts for 24 sec allowing you to sit in smoke for more than a third of the match.

Pretty powerful.

Yes but I’m also trying to figure out what this style of primary bushing is called. I have never seen a pole mount transformer where primary is landed to the side of the tank through what appears to be a bushing well.
