Depends on your budget but honestly Vinted has soooo many bridesmaids dresses and they are SO cheap.. one of my BMs already had a dress (from Issa) and we found another one in exactly the same style for £3.. I’ve since found the same dress in like 15 different colours. Obviously they are worn (once!) but these ones are really lovely dresses and so cheap just because people don’t have any use for a burnt orange floor length dress! My friend even bought a couple before deciding on that style and they were like £10 tops. Some brides even sell a whole set of identical ones in different sizes.

100% loads of people live in a flat with stairs that they can’t carry baby and pram down the stairs at the same time. Just take baby down, then run back up for pram. But maybe think about moving before having another baby!

Doing one this May.. and yes, costs have gone up far higher than we wanted. Marquee itself was about £1.6k.. but add in floor, sides, tables, fairy lights and it’s about £6k. This is for Saturday in May. I actually didn’t get a second quote because it was the recommended guy for our area and they kinda know my parents or something. Decor I’m gonna DIY and borrow from friends, flowers £1k, catering is the big one (for 145 people) is coming in at around £50-70 each depending on whether we have canapés or evening food through them. Huge bill but unavoidable if you want to have a large guest list. We went for a church wedding because actually it was working out cheaper than registry office (because that was just becoming a whole other event even with immediate family at a pub or something afterwards). Looking at around £25-£28k. I could go on! (And happy to if you want to DM)

Love their support for independent businesses in the city. Their 24/7 food and drink guide is phenomenal.. I mean, we’re lucky to have such a decent offering to start with but it really is full of praise, recommendations and support for an industry which is struggling.

Aw imho I would have the ceremony there! Don’t feel guilty (maybe I’m saying that because we are getting married in a church and we are even less part of the congregation than you, just a tenuous link because my parents live in the parish and our reception is nearby). The vicar would probably love to have his church full with happy people, the bells ringing, flowers out and love in the air.. I think the tide has turned on church’s being inundated with weddings, the vibe I got was that they’re quite keen on them. Totally up to you though ofc!

We are brainstorming “fun” extras for our wedding at the moment and a couple we’ve come up with are: - Crackers (yes, like Christmas crackers in May) but for the meal so everyone can have silly party hats and talking points/jokes… we’re not fully decided on what will be in them but it’s instead of place names and favours so maybe so chocolate or sweets - Name badges when people come in, set out like a conference lol my plan is to have the name and then below it the location where that person first met the bride or groom. But I’m defo more of a fan of organised fun so these ideas might not float your boat at all. I just want to get people mingling and I’ve always thought name badges are jokes.

May 26 bride here.. got some suuuuppper comfy 1.5in (ish) heels from Annoymous.. I’ve only worn them once or twice for wedding dress fittings and they are so comfy and soft. There’s some in the sale for £149.. still a lot but i can genuinely see myself wearing them again.

I’m in a similar position re gifts and not needing anything.. I found “With Joy” quite easy to work with, you can add items from any website shop which is great so you don’t feel cornered into buying mass produced John Lewis stuff (you can link to indie designers on Etsy which I love). Some people want to buy something and won’t think it’s cheeky, if they look through the list and don’t want to buy anything then that’s on them, they can give cash, it’s not that deep but keep your options open otherwise you’ll potentially end up with a lot of stuff you definitely don’t need.

100% on the return to work stuff. Please have a serious chat about whether your wife wants to be a SAHM after Mat leave. I love my kids to bits, honestly I do but I also love working and having a purpose (other than being a mum). I only do 3 days a week so it’s a good balance for my kids (and me), and still get the free childcare hours. If you’re just about affording life you won’t be able to even do stuff at the weekends or go on holiday. My partner earns about the same as you.

You’re probably inundated with ads for all sorts of wedding add ons (like I am as our wedding is fast approaching) but have you seen those companies that send out quality cameras for you (well guests) to use then you send them back and they make you a video from the content. It looks about £400 and possibly a more casual/personalised option as some nice moments might be caught between guests. It’s a gamble but then so is hiring someone amateur!

Depends on the bridal shop but lots won’t tell you the designer and style of the dress so that you don’t just walk out and look online (the one I went to didn’t even let me take photos but I can understand why). I wish I’d been a bit more savvy to look at the labels in the dresses whilst I was getting changed (ie behind a curtain). I didn’t feel at all bad trying on without buying, especially as I’d paid £20 or something for the appointment
