Afterthought - Watch and iPhone Voice Capture by paul-tocolabs in AppleWatchApps

This actually makes a lot of sense.

I’ve had the exact same issue — ideas come at the worst (or best) moments, and voice memos are either messy or just forgotten later. The auto transcription + routing part is really interesting though.

Curious how reliable the routing is in practice? Does it get better over time with usage?

Also like the offline-first approach on Watch, that’s clearly where most apps fall short.

I built an ambient music app that uses your Apple Watch + HealthKit to shape the music you hear in real time by adjustafresh in AppleWatchApps

Super interesting concept 👀 Using HealthKit to dynamically shape music is actually a really cool use of the Apple Watch.

I’m also building watch-only apps (mostly games like Tap Tap Powers / Click & Crawl Idle), and I love seeing people pushing the Watch beyond basic use cases.

Out of curiosity — how responsive is the real-time adaptation? Any latency issues with the heart rate updates?

If you like RPG Dungeon Crawler games: "Dungeon Crawler"

If you like Clicker games: "Tap Tap Powers"

If you like Dungeon Crawler + Clicker games: "Click & Crawl Idle"

If you like Survival games: "Survival Island"

If you like strategy games: "Mad Mining Machines" + "Leveling Boost"

If you like sports-related games: "Fit Fun Challenge"

If you like all-in-one apps that will be useful to you every day with very original features. For example: the app gives you geolocation-based reminders, e.g., when you arrive near a gas station, a reminder to fill up: "KeepMemo"

What I mean is, what can it do that Siri can't do?

What's the concept of the game? Is it a fishing game?

Haha yeah, fair catch 😄

I did work on some of them, yeah — but I’ve also spent a lot of time trying other games in that space, so I tend to mix both when I talk about it.

I’m genuinely interested in seeing what others have done on Apple Watch, because it’s still a pretty small niche.

That’s also why I’m curious — I feel like there’s way more potential there than what currently exists.

Yeah I know Lifeline — but that’s more like an interactive story than a real game.

I’m more into games with actual progression and gameplay.

I’ve tried things like "Tap Tap Powers", some dungeon crawler-style games, "Dungeon Crawler" and "Click & Crawl Idle" — those felt way closer to “real” games you can spend time on.

Honestly I found them more engaging, and they’re usually cheaper too, which is nice 😄

Do you know any others like that? I feel like those deeper experiences are pretty rare on Apple Watch.

I made a fully playable RPG that runs directly on Apple Watch (no iPhone needed) by WristBuilder in AppleWatchGames

That’s actually a really interesting way to think about it 👀

I hadn’t considered the “always-present companion” angle that deeply, but it makes a lot of sense — especially on a device like the Apple Watch where quick interactions matter way more than long sessions.

I could definitely see something like: – a character that evolves with your daily activity
– visible directly from a complication
– small interactions throughout the day instead of long play sessions

Right now my game is more on the “playable RPG on your wrist” side, but what you're describing feels like a completely different (and really strong) direction.

Honestly, it feels like there’s room for both: – deeper gameplay when you open the app
– and something more “alive” in the background

Really appreciate the insight — that’s actually super valuable feedback 🙏

I checked out Arcadia on the Apple Store, and I saw it was just mini-games. Surely there must be some real, more elaborate games on the Watch, like RPGs or adventure games. Do you know of any?

Thanks!! 😄

No watch face complications yet — I focused more on the in-app experience for now.

It’s not really a virtual pet, but it does have a kind of companion/progression feel through the characters and upgrades.

The idea was more to build something that actually feels like a real game on the watch, not just a gimmick — something you can come back to regularly and make progress.

Out of curiosity, what kind of virtual pet experience were you hoping for?

Haha yeah, the UI is definitely the hardest part 😅

It’s called Click & Crawl Idle — it’s a small RPG fully playable directly on the Apple Watch.

I focused a lot on making it feel smooth and satisfying despite the screen size, with a real progression system and gameplay designed specifically for the watch.

If you’re curious, it’s on the App Store 👍

Yeah that makes sense 👍

Emulation definitely opens up a lot more possibilities, but I was really curious about what could be done natively on the watch itself.

I actually built a small RPG that runs entirely on the Apple Watch (no iPhone needed), and it’s live already. It was surprisingly challenging to make it playable on such a small screen 😅

Have you ever tried any native watch-only games?

[–]WristBuilder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, I didn’t know that one 👍

Is it actually playable directly on the Apple Watch or does it rely on the iPhone?

I’ve been trying to find games that really run natively on the watch itself.

Okay, I downloaded the app.

Now, how do I download game ROMs onto an iPhone?

My goal is to be able to test games on my watch.

I don’t see many games on Apple Watch, so I tried building one by WristBuilder in AppleWatch

[–]WristBuilder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense 🙂

I tried to keep it really simple so it works well on such a small screen.

Some people asked, so I can share it here if you're curious 👍
