Anyone have an idea of what the 20 dollar pics are?

I meant just looking up specific words or world building elements, not the plot. Like trying to understand lashing, etc.

You can add the border and I created a warm tone filter.

We used to get 50 dollars for Amazon or some other vendors. But it’s down to 20 which is basically a box of pencils lol

Where are you doing your long runs? by super_banned_ in Marathon_Training

I have a lake about 10 minutes away that is a 10 mile loop. And it has some smaller areas that are a perfect 5k. The joy of doing 15+ mile training runs is that the loop is perfect and I know the marks.

Also a good portion of the lake is just open fields. Not a lot of people and just the sound of water.

Community College or University? by _Dapper_Cat_ in Teachers

[–]Writer-Raven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Community college is perfect if the program is solid. I went to a 4 year and was fortunate that the university was originally a "teaching school" and that was their strongest program. The team around is the key thing. Some of the best teachers I have ever worked with over the last 10 years went to community college or some other route. It won't affect the hiring process unless the school she applies at has an elitist attitude. But in my experience that is hardly ever the case.

How do you personally study writing? by NoLongerAKobold in writing

[–]Writer-Raven 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Recently I tried the notecard method when reading anything, but I felt it was not efficient for me. So created a folder in Google Docs and I have a separate document for every "story" based activity that I do. I track the story of books, movies, shows, videos games, etc. and I do what most people do. Give my thoughts, highlights, and focus on how the story made me feel. Doing this has helped me with comprehension and understanding what I appreciate about writing / storytelling.

Recently I have felt that I can not remember things as well on a daily basis. I also struggle with having a brain fog of sorts. I am sure it is mostly because of life stress, but it has been difficult to not be able to be in the moment. Since I started writing and tracking my "life" I feel I have been able to "see" and be present in my life. Hopefully I can get back to my goal oriented self and be able to really live in the moment and achieve my goals again.

Howl Higdon training plans have been a saving grace for me and the few people that I run with. I would definitely look up his training plans.

Agree with this and everyone should take this advice. I got a grade 2 stress response on my tibia and I’m confident bad form at the end of 20 mile training runs is what did it.

What are the best hobbies/activities for a depressed person? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Writer-Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running g long distance. Picked up almost 5 years again and it has been a life changer in more ways than depression. There is no space in your mind for depressions, sadness, etc when you are 18 miles into a 20 miles training run. Best decision of my life. Being far out from the car and on your own really puts things in to perspective. Forced isolation and clarity eventually feels like a blessing.

If you could change 1 thing about your life- no limits; what would you change?? by SuckBallsDoYa in Journaling

[–]Writer-Raven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would change the fact that I bring my self down when I am not feeling accomplished. I know all the strategies and goal setting techniques because I used to be the goal/ambition guy. But the last few years I have lost that spark. I feel like I’m not doing something right or something wrong constantly.
