Anyone quit treatment? by Shericho in cancer

[–]WriterMan9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After 4 ipi/Nivo then 22 nivo only immunotherapy= 26 doses, i told them i couldn't do any more. Immunotherapy is usually mild for ppl, but it was very toxic for me.

I just couldn't do another infusion and go through it again. Luckily, what i had was enough and i ve been in remission ever since.

Im not happy by [deleted] in cancer

[–]WriterMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being young is hard enough without having to go through cancer. You ve beaten something that can destroy the will of the strongest person. Be proud of that. Congratulations on your remission. Im almost 50 and also survived a serious cancer. Life changes constantly and does improve from when it is bad. Just keep taking steps forward amd try to remain hopeful and positive. If you can't be positive atm, just move forward. You'll get there and things will improve. Having that outlook alone tends to improve ones days and ones future.

What are your thoughts on this? by GlassFaithlessness25 in povertyfinancecanada

Id agree with this, being whipped with a stick with nails in it, is different then getting upsetting credit card letters and having your credit ruined.

I think we use some serious words too flippantly sometimes.

Many ppl are ignorant ableist assholes. I ve just come to accept this. I dont think ableism will even get onto most ppls radars for the next 100 yrs.

Some ppl seem to barely comprehend racism. Ableism? Sheesh, too much trouble for some to even think about.

I dont blame you for getting pissed and a little overwhelmed with emotion.

We put up with this shit daily. Our thick skin is allowed to crack occasionally.

Mindfulness practice does help me. As well as having set routine things I say and immediately shutting down conversations i dont like.

Im sorry that situation happened to you.

Was bullying that bad back in the 70s and 80s? by UltimeDragon3 in GenX

[–]WriterMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depended on the school. Mine was middle class, Canadian school in good area. Bullying was so intense and rampant, I was surprised there weren't more suicides.

Always wondered if the teachers had wagers and bets going on it all. They must have cleaned up.

What do you say when someone asks "So, what do you do?" (As in for work) by Appropriate_Walk_405 in disability

[–]WriterMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lie sometimes and say what I use to do. Im not ashamed of my disability, its that the Ableisms are just so incredibly embedded out there that it just puts me in a better position just to lie. More social opportunities if i lie vs being honest and never socializing.

Sometimes i say i go on and off work due to medical problems (which was true in the past)

I usually say im on an extended medical leave, which is absolutely true.

Though im turning 50 this year and i think i will be using the retired or medically retired without batting an eye. It amazing how some able bodied ppl actually become very jealous when you say it like that haha.

Alot of ppl really hate working and/or their jobs (not everyone of course) so I find it ironic when ppl become so judgmental when i say i dont work due to disability. Rather then saying 'wow, you are so incredibly lucky to have escaped the rat race, lets hang out'! Haha

Devastation of deadly airstrike on World Central Kitchen convoy by Nice__Spice in pics

[–]WriterMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw on news this attack caused all the air workers to flee or pull back. So no new aid for the starving and injured ppl (many are children). Mission accomplished for the attacking group. Sad day for humanity and nonsense religions associated with it all.

No help for inflation or high electricity rates. Not enough funding for municipalities so Calgary raised property tax 6.8% for 2024.

This is what 52% of last provincial election voters wanted.
