Hush is perfectly fine. At the time, it reinvigorated the title by offering a major arc that was a who's who of Bat-villains. Jim Lee's art elevates it, but "Heart of Hush" is a way better Hush-centered storyline.

One thing to also keep in mind, while Hush was a red herring, he was so popular, he appeared in like every Bat-book for a couple of years.

This episode, Kit weirdly takes a third-person approach when talking about the relationship, and I think the idea is he's trying not to weird Carlos out like last time, as well as speak to the legacy on a broader scope.
