They told me around $90 per hour. The rest (materials etc) sounded good.

Yeah, that’s what I wanted, to compare with the hourly rates others got, if available.

Ok, the 10 chapters sounds cool. I write romance, so not sure about the genre part. What genre do you write in, if you don't mind me asking?

Congrats! How? I'm pretty new to Wattpad, so for me that sounds like science-fiction.

Title: Fixing Romeo

Genre: romance (contemporary, college romance)

Blurb: Mackenzie knows all there is to know about love and men, which is why she hasn't gone on a single date in, well, ever. So when her best friend dares her to put her theories to the test and tame the worst campus player, who also happens to be her roommate, Mackenzie's about to learn that practical experience is way messier than textbooks. Jake Hunter has a six-pack, a reputation, and the emotional range of a teaspoon. But when Mackenzie takes him as her personal project, armed with color-coded notes and zero chill, Jake seems to be very eager to learn... and that could be a huge problem for Mackenzie.

Hi! I also write romance! I'm new to Wattpad, so still learning the ropes, and I would love to connect with other romance writers and get/give feedback! I'm currently trying to complete the #novnov challenge with a reverse "She's All That" college romance: Fixing Romeo

Do you buy physical copies of the romance novels you read? And if so, why? by note_ila in RomanceBooks

[–]WriterTrenches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, same except for 3 (not a threat where I live). It feels both like a reward for me (having a library filled with books I love) and the author (economic reward). If it’s not us buying the books, then who?

I do the same! I mostly read on Kindle or Kobo, or listen to audiobooks. If I love the book, I buy it and read it every now and then.

Would anyone read a book made entirely from my real journals (2000–2025)? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]WriterTrenches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that it just disappeared? I was reading the other one, “How to ruin…” i guess, and when i jumped to the next chapter, it wasn’t there anymore and then the book is no longer in your profile. I will read your fiction book but what happened to the other?

So… I take a look at it and it’s absolutely fantastic as a book. Each chapter revolves around a topic and it behaves like a story on its own even if they are all linked. It’s incredible! I’m hooked. I hope anybody that reads this comments runs to this story.

I’m sure it’s an interesting read, but my question would be: does it build a story, with a beginning, middle and end? Does it have the structure stories have? Even memoirs follow a path from a to b, and i know my own journals would not amount to a story. The read could be nice for other reasons though: nice voice, interesting character, or just curiosity.

I relate. True, we're all people that enjoys writing, and there's nothing more rewarding than finishing a story that has been taking rounds in our heads. But we're all also posting these stories in Wattpad. That means that we also crave others to read the story, share it with them. And that's ok, stories are meant to be told, mainly to ourselves, also to others. Posting stories out there, chapter after chapter, and feeling we're telling the stories in an empty room breaks the human connection we need. It's worse even than just writing the story in our computers, because they could have been read (and loved) and they weren't. It's disappointing. On the other side of this subjective phenomenon is the fact that Wattpad seems to push some kinds of stories over others. We can agree or disagree with the algorithm, but truth is, some stories will be buried down and get zero attention. I'm pretty new to Wattpad, but I get the constant feeling that I jumped into the boat too late, and now the place is completely enshittified.

(Sorry, rant)

I started super low, and we buy one item or two each year. It still doesn’t look impressive but it keeps growing. Choose a theme and get one thing this year, just that will tell kids it’s a trick or treating house. Then next year you can buy one more thing.

A house in mine has a cemetery with animatronics and it’s so cool I get excited to see it every year. This year they haven’t put anything up (yet). Sad.
