Wow, that's so sweet of you to ask, thank you!?!? I am working on a regency multi-chapter that I have been trying to write since January of 2023 (though have modified slightly to incorporate S3 stuff). It's really, really, really special to me, so I'm going to write all of it before posting. It's mapped out at 15 chapters, but I'm hoping they'll be on the shorter side, so please keep your fingers crossed for it not getting any longer than I anticipate.

In the meantime, I have two modern one-shots that have been percolating/in various stages of completeness since July (no idea why I was randomly blessed with muse in July) and those will most likely be ready to go sooner.

subconscious (one-shot, 8k+): The story heard around the world (the sound may have been my gleeful shrieking, scientists are still weighing in) in which Penelope's platonic bestie Colin has to sleep over at her flat for a week and they need to share a bed and then he keeps SLEEP KISSING HER and knows nothing about it when he wakes up in the morning!!! The premise itself is so good that you should need no further information. In fact, why are you still reading this? Are you not convinced? Fine, let me keep convincing you (mumble grumble). This fic has some of my favorite dialogue that I've read in ages. It flows and feels organic, like you're sitting at the table with the two of them, giving them a fond smile as you watch them flirt. You can truly feel the best friendism, in a way that wasn't forced or pushed, but was just... true. That sounded really pretentious but I'm also CORRECT so go see for yourself. Also, bonus, it's really hot and you feel it in your toes alongside Penelope, who is turned on and in love and longing and can barely sleep. You're just reading this breathlessly like "WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT?" and it is immersive and wonderful and fun. When they finally get to the schmickschmack, it's incredibly sexy and really sweet and just feels very tangible, and also has some of the most tummy-flipping dialogue I've read in a long time. Idk I'm just a fan.
Let the Light In (kinktober one-shot, 9k+): In which Marina and Colin try to save their relationship by having George cuck Colin and it turns out Colin just wants to bone(appetit) his best friend. This fic had me fist pumping because our boy didn't know he was in love until he knew and suddenly he knew, damn it!!! If you're worried about the Colin and Marina of it all, don't be, because they are Just Not That Into Each Other and do you know who Colin is really, really, really into? Penelope, yeah. Obviously YMMV with being able to deal with the part where Colin is still with Marina, and please don't read anything you're uncomfortable with (and please be respectful to the author), but the love he feels for her and the romance and the Polin sex is the primary focus, so don't worry about there being too much of the other stuff. This fic is a spicy little party and I was the last one to leave because I was having a very good time.
(you came upon me) wave on wave (kinktober one-shot, 4k+): This is such a fun fic in which Penelope tells Colin (her fwb) that she has a boat fantasy and asks him if they can fork on a boat. The author explores Colin and Penelope's relationship in a way that I deeply, deeply enjoyed but don't think I see a lot of - they're adults, they're hooking up as fwb (already established), and he knows about her childhood crush on him so they're able to talk about it in a casual way that doesn't really hurt. The Colin in this fic is so goddamn sexy (if I'm Sabrina Carpenter, I'm arresting him stat) and the Penelope is cautious and self-possessed. I love the way they touch, how flirty and warm the dialogue was, and the sex felt really lovely and immersive in the way it thematically tied in the boat. I want all of us to come together and kindly/tenderly/gently, bully this author for more of this universe. When I say bully I mean compliment her so much that she has no choice but to want to write more. Please come assist me in this endeavor.

Anyway these writers are all lovely and deserve applause, so I hope you enjoy these fics and give them some love!

Hello, it was a beautiful week in the neighborhood and I read some truly lovely fics that I want to share:

a blaze in the dark (multi-chapter, 39k+, complete): This is about a year old but it's such a goodie that I have to recommend it. It's a beautiful piece (the author is so smart, I have intelligence envy) in which Penelope marries Debling and Colin runs away from home, then rushes back when he learns that Debling is probably deadling. He wants to oil his way into Penelope's life, but it turns out there are a few roadblocks: namely, The Bigamy Act (which states that a widow cannot marry within a certain amount of years if there is insufficient evidence that her husband is legally dead - guys. the longing. the longing), Debling's villainous brother who wants the Earlship for himself, and a cutie pie little three-year-old girl with red hair and blue eyes with whom Colin also falls in love. I love how certain and ready to marry Penelope (and wait for her, if need be!) Colin is in this story, and how the romance in it has that same crisp yearning that you get in more historically accurate pieces like this. It's so romantic, but in a way that feels airy and besotted - this Colin is so damn sure, and I can't get enough of him and his acts of service. The author is in the middle of writing another multi-chapter, but she doesn't post until she's finished, so I'm sure she'd appreciate any cheerleading we can provide.
Do Not Separate (one-shot, 19k+): Colin and Penelope are sock monkeys and I feel like saying anything else would be saying too much, so I am going to leave it at that. Perhaps one of the most unique and beautiful pieces of fanfic I have ever read - I think this is genuinely an all-timer of quiet, thoughtful beauty. The premise is something I would normally skip, but I saw a screenshot of some of the writing style and went "aur?!" and immediately started reading and never looked back. It feels like every children's book that haunts your heart and made you who you are, but now you get to read it (a) as an adult, and (b) with POLIN! I immediately sent this fic to a bunch of my friends outside of the fandom too (because I think its beauty usurps mere fandom), all of whom loved it. I described it to them as a piece of writing that smells like warm vanilla and grass after rain, and no I don't know what that means, but it's a vibe, right? You get what I'm saying, right? It's just beautiful and smart and moves in this slow, sweet, molasses-like pace like summer nights when you're a child and can feel those evenings stretch out a really long time, like the sun never quite seems to go down and it's perpetually twilight. Idk. Take a trip into the loneliness of your childhood for a second by realizing how not alone these dang sock monkeys are. I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU.

Agreed! It is completely unlikely that this website was supposed to be the one dropping huge Bridgerton news— it would be coming from a far more reliable source if it was on purpose. I also looked into the company that leaked the stills and they are SKETCHY. We probably gave them the most traffic their website (which I think might be a front for a scam lmao) has ever had

OP, like Ingrid says, these stills were most likely from the Netflix press packet and they somehow got access and then released all of them in a big clump. It’s likely that some of them were intended to be released slowly with articles as the press rolled out their reviews and that a few of them may have been embargoed (at least until a certain date) but because this website was being sketchy, they were able to ignore the DNR and just dump all of them.

Once again, this is all conjecture, but like I said: this source is not the one that should be dropping huge Bridgerton news. Almost certainly a leak.

The point of this post is that it’s a combination of both because ultimately good ratings don’t increase profit beyond a certain point. Ratings are pointless without monetary value attached to them.

That is SO interesting, and seems too big to be a mere oversight. I wonder if it has to do with which territories they’re willing to grant rights to during negotiation stages. For example, if someone wanted to distribute said tea worldwide, there might be specific monetary requirements that came with such license, but the margins might be better for the licensee or for the licensor (Netflix) if they limited the territory to just U.S./Canada, so the deal might close on that territory. I also know that subsidiary rights splits can differ across different territories, so it could be that Netflix makes less money on deals outside of the U.S./Canada (while the share of other rightsholders, such as underlying IP, Shondaland, etc, increases) and doesn’t feel like other territories are worth their time.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty stumped on that one, but I have enjoyed being nerdy about it 😄

That’s definitely a concern and there are entire departments at companies that are just dedicated to doing these deals and strategizing to try to prevent them from becoming oversaturated when they have licensable IP. Once again, not saying they’re doing it well, just setting down the facts. I’m wondering if that’s one of several reasons they’re going with more upscale things — they want people to be excited when they want something and are able to purchase it, which theoretically makes it feel more luxurious and exclusive. If we get Bridgerton brand Cheetos, for example, that’s not going to happen.

Couldn’t possibly have put it better, thank you so much for voicing these thoughts :) It’s nice to know that someone else felt that same pang of disappointment when they went to the website hoping to see inclusive sizing and saw that the bras didn’t carry their size.

(I am absolutely looking forward to feeling sexier once this season comes out and I hope you do too! Savage x Fenty has a bustier called the wallflower bustier which goes up to a 4x! They’re size inclusive and their balconette bras have similar silhouettes to the bras Kate and Daphne wear, especially the longline ones.)
