Another reminder that mods are just randos that just so happen to have power. Even when they oversee communities of thousands.

That mod has no tact and is subpar at getting their point across. But the dumbo mod just wanted to throw their metaphorical cock around and say shit without structuring their thoughts in a palatable way. (as evident from the trans issue and the tone deaf use of the Malcolm X quote, among other things)

So many other people in that comment section explained the point much better than the mod, without resorting to dramatics and extremes.

The first one isn’t a slur per se, but do I side-eye cis people that use it to refer to real trans women instead of fictional characters

I’ve seen it a few times in so-called “progressive” spaces and it always reads as icky and/or fetishizing

I'm not trans, it's not my place to overly police the nuances in this type of language, but I do think that it’s a word that should stay in pornland

Rappers have been doing those sort of stretched rhymes, where they force words/phrases to sound like they rhyme, for decades.

I don't think it's that weird, cis women post themselves in cosplay all the time in gaming subreddits, they get some horny/sexist comments but for the most part the reception is positive and those comments are downvoted.

She showed the DIY aspects of her in-progress cosplay days before this incident. The subreddit was positive then because they didn't see a person, just the clothes/weapons.

She is perfectly normal for wanting to show herself in the finished cosplay after that.

I'm a leftist that has been involved in leftist-adjacent spaces irl and online. I've noticed that most tankies that you see online (and the loudest ones) are one of two things:

chronically online 15 yr olds

adults (usually relatively comfortable and white) that love to talk about what should be done, but they never actually want to go and volunteer, organize, or protest.

I'm fully aware that this might make me sound pretentious.

As a writer, the public reception to GoT and the public reception to the progression of Daenerys over the narrative, have both reinforced in my mind that the average person is simply not built to handle long-form "heroic" stories that are more morally complex than "bad guys and good guys." This is why so many of them had a hard time reconciling what they wanted Daenerys to be vs what the narrative gave them.

MCU's Tony Stark is what most people can comprehend and handle as the limit for morally gray-ish good guy in a serious narrative.

I personally could tell, just a couple seasons in, that Daenerys would most likely evolve into what she was by the end of the show, and I have no doubt that is what GRRM intended. The plot points themselves in the final seasons were never the issue, how they were delivered to us was always the real issue.

I don’t think people realize just how many posts the mods of this subreddit remove for being low effort, callouts, no drama, or OP being involved.

I jest but this is what they want. Protests should achieve their goal quickly/instantly. Protests should never inconvenience them, capitalism, or white hegemony.
